Sorry but I understood nothing from this post... it's a bit confusing actually.
A. you got BFNs with your HPTs earlier and then the doc got it Positive
B. you got positive at the Doc's but later when you checked with FMU it was BFN.
If it's A then definitely you were checking early. I doubt it is because I think you want to clarify if you've had a miscarriage so it's the other way round. It's possible that the HPTs you're testing with is less sensitive and that's why unable to pick up the test line. FMU pretty much rules out the concentration insufficiency if you've tested it right on morning... so it's just the tests then. If you're using FRER or something equally well proven for earlt pregnancy detection then the test at Doc's could be a false positive. Anyway the beta seems like important in here to decide whether or not you are or were pregnant. What does you blood HCG says? They can tell you if you had a early loss based on blood HCG so you got to depend on that for clarity... sadly there's no other way to know. Hope it still is a BFP... good luck.
I think a chemical is possible as far as the case suggest. You've just had one positive right... which can again be a false test. False positive are super rare and don't usually happen as often as the false negative which is much more prevalant.... but there's always a posibility. No matter how many times the HPTs turn up with a blazing red as long as the beta turns out to be negative it's negative. However, if you've had the beta then that should be able to indicate the possibility of chemical or MC more clarly than stipulations. Did you happen to miss any scheduled AF or just checked it all based on ovulation date even before the AF was missing. You're right about the bleeding though when you're pregnant for well than a couple of week you should be bleeding if you lost your pregnancy. Well if it's an early loss than then you will not get the AF immidiately but around the usual time you're sheduled to have AF.
Actually, there are also other reasons for getting a false positive result. Emotionally-draining reasons but worth knowing about.
1. Chemical pregnancies
This occurs when an embryo cannot grow. Most of these pregnancies actually go undetected unless a pregnancy test is taken.
2. Miscarriage / termination
The hCG levels are still present even after a miscarriage or termination. The levels decrease slowly with time.
3. Ectopic pregnancies
When the embryo implants in the fallopian tube. A false positive is shown there.
4. Medication
Usually fertility medication. Especially pH level changing medication like genderex for example. (Reference:genderex.com)
