How to pay for IVF

Hi all, I am very new to this whole IVF thing. I was diagnosed with elevated FSH and my husband has low sperm count and motility. Our fertility expert advised that IVF is the only option we have. We have no infertility coverage and would have to pay for everything out of pocket. My question is to those who don’t have insurance coverage how did you pay for the treatment? Did you applied for a loan? Do we have to pay the whole amount at once? Just want to get an idea from those in the similar situation.

Hi, I too didn’t have fertility insurance and we had to undergo IVF so we decided to take a 5 year loan to cover the cost. We took a loan amount of $20,000 and decided to pay for all the medicines out of pocket. Hope this helps you.

Hi, read your post. It is really difficult to pay for the cost if you do not have any insurance coverage. There are some clinics that require patients to pay upon commencement of their cycle. If you do not have IVF coverage, some clinics do offer to apply for a medical loan as they know many financing companies. My clinic also works with a reputable financing company, I didn’t use them but did work with them for doing some research and they were very nice and understanding.

Hi, thank you all for your advice. I should call the clinic and should go and see what their policy is and do we have to pay it all upfront or what. Also know about what treatments and medicines I would need, so that we can calculate the costs.
