trip to safari park

Hi

We have just returned from a day trip to Woburn Safari Park.

WE were charged for 2 adults as my son is over 16. We were also charged full price for a second carer as my son requires 2:1 support when out in the community.

To get a discount for a second carer, I was asked for written evidence that he needs 2:1 support. His blue badge was not enough.

Where do I get a certificate stating the level of support he needs. I cannot find this information on any of care reviews. Who do I ask?

If anyone has this information it will be very much appreciated as it gets quite costly to take him out.

Hi there Lucacielle,

Can you remember which department told you about needing 2:1 support for your son as maybe they could write a letter of support? Also, I do not know if you qualify for Passport to Leisure or similar in your area? In my location it allows carers free or cut price admission to a variety of places such as swimming the cinema etc failing this, as you have a blue badge you should be able to apply for a concessionary pass for your son on public transport. This again allows carers free travel with the holder so, again this may show in future that your son needs at least 1:1 support. But, I would get in touch with customer service at Woburn Safari park and explain that you were caught off guard being expected to pay for 3 adults when your son needs 2:1 support, Maybe they will be clearer about Woburn's policy and offer an apology for any distress it caused you all on the day.

Hope that helps a little
