I believe that pedal exercises can increase coordination, which is good for recovery from ataxia. Maybe it works for me and you might want to try it too.

pedal exercises and ataxia
I have nothings to lose and have a simple stationary bike.
Hello,
I used to have a pedal excerciser, but It got lost when I moved. Time to buy another one, I think!
Need to keep some strength, in the legs as i don't get around much.
Hi Did you see the last Ataxia UK newsletter.
Under latest research, think it was in Canada, they trialled an exercise program over 6 months on a static bike with heart rate up to 80% against a group doing balance exercises.
The resuls were favourable towards the aerobic exercise group.
The conclusion was that more trials are needed with balance AND aerobic exercise to help ataxia sufferers.
To put it simply, increased blood supply to the brain seemed to help CA!
This does seem to make sense to me.
Read it and see what you think. Certain parameters need fulfilling though.
I have started doing aerobic exercise but am building up slowly. Am lucky to have a static bike which my hubby used when he had a knee replacement.
I am always looking at ways to help the progression.
Take care.
