Anyone know the difference between SCA 10 & SCAR10 I was diagnosed with SCAR10 but wondered what is the difference ....

Hi Tazmurray, I think the difference is they are found on a different gene. SCA10 is on chromosome 22q13 ATXN10 gene and SCAR10 is on chromosome 3p22 ANO10 gene. I find it all complicated to understand to be honest.

SCAR 10..This is passed on Recessively, it can miss generations, it’s passed on by carriers (both parents) but they are unaffected themselves.

SCA10..

Only one parent needs to pass on the mutant gene, they are likely diagnosed themselves.
