Wouldn’t THC give a ‘high’ 🤔 Even if it did give more effective pain relief, I’d be worried about the possibility of feeling more ‘drunk’. Also, what would happen if it were mixed with prescribed medication 🤔 I have some without THC at the moment, time will tell if it helps with pain and at the moment I’m not on prescribed medication 🙂 Personally I don’t believe it would alleviate basic ataxia symptoms 🙂xB

It does give a high but the painkilling and relaxing lasts days its certainly better than opioid based painkillers remember though no driving or operating machinery

Hey Guyb, what dosage/frequency do you use? I just got some recently for my wife & decided to try to find a suitable dosage for her as she's never tried cannabis before. I didn't want to put off at first attempt. Sadly, my efforts have been pathetic. It would appear to have got so much stronger since I dabbled as a student 40+ years ago. I applied it by sucking my finger. As nothing happened within an hour, I tried again with some more. Knocked my bandy for 3 days!! Stoned for 8 hours & weak as a kitten for the remainder. Second attempt was much more controlled, but quite high for a few hours. No aftermath this time, just a relaxed feeling for a couple of days. Been abroad since, so not tried again. I'm hoping you'll say something like 'a small dab 4 times a day will work without getting you high', but don't have high hopes. All experiences gratefully received though, as it actually helped me enormously with my chronic back & shoulder pain. I believe it may have been it's natural inflammation reduction qualities that may have helped me, rather than painkilling as such (but not enough data after 2 attempts to prove either way).

hi kirsty34, I believe the hemp oil being sold in UK health shops has no benefits whatsoever. It needs to be cannabis. There is now cannabis available with very low thc (which makes you high) and high cbd (health benefits). So this is what I'd recommend. Unfortunately it is still illegal in UK and in France (I live in France)

However for a few years now I have been making butter and then biscuits from it. It makes a tremendous difference as it decontracts the muscles, and reduces pain. I suffer from a high level of spastisity, and yet to be confimed, suspected dystonia in my neck which easily leads to migraines.

I have allergies to all anti inflammatories, paracetamol and now my only legal painkiller that's left, tramadol makes me vomit!

I don't eat it too often, maybe once or twice a week before going to bed. I try to treat it like any other drug. Wisely

All the Drs that I see and my physiotherapist are aware that I eat this and they all approve and are hoping for it to be made legal soon.

I really hope that it will be made legal very soon, at least medically!

I do believe that the cannabis oil is also illegal in UK.

Are you aware that CBD oil is already legally available for sale in the UK? This does not contain THC, the psychotropic element, so you won't get stoned.

no I wasn't aware of that. I know that you can now buy cbd oil which is hemp oil rather than cannabis oil. Is this the cbd oil that you're talking about?

I had a wee look online. Seems there's quite a difference between CBD oil & hemp oil - and there's no THC or CBD in hemp oil (news to me too!) ...... meetharmony.com/2016/11/29/...

We actually raised this with my wife's consultant this afternoon at our appointment. Upshot was that he didn't feel it would help in my wife's case, as she has no pain & little spasticity. I had been approaching it from the inflammation angle, but it appears in her case she doesn't have any inflammation. Please don't anyone reading this think it will be the same for them - ask the medic! Margaret appears to have a very unusual form of CA, with quite accelerated atrophy of the cerebelum. The investigation continues ...
