I should have had my annual appointment with my neurologist in November but still haven't had heard anything. Since nothing much comes of these appointments I am not sure what to do. Any advice? Thank you.
Neurologist: I should have had my annual... - Ataxia UK
Neurologist
I had the same problem, after leaving numerous messages on answer machine nobody got back to me, I went to my GP in the end he sorted it out, they told him I'd been discharged ( a load of rubble) I seen mum Neurologist last Ftiday he couldn't apologise enough
Go to your GP I'm sure he/she will help.
Thank you . I will try that. Was he helpful?
I waited about 3 years for my last appointment. Eventually when I phoned to change my address someone noticed that I should wait so long between reviews and I got an appointment ASAP. I mentioned the delay in my last appointment and my next review is in 18 months. In the end the delay didn't really affect me as my condition hadn't changed dramatically. I think you should phone your neurologist in about 6 months if you have no news, go to your GP if you have a serious problem, and when you do see your neurologist have the date of your next appointment confirmed before you leave. But I hope you get an appointment soon and that it is useful!
Thank you ciaranj. My condition hasn't really changed much,a bit more wobbly and eyes a little worse but there isn't much they can do about that.
Your reply was very helpful.
You should have a checkup once a year heart scan every two years a diabetes test once a year that what I was told.
I used to go the Ataxia Centre in London,it was once a year but such a hike, then I found out there was a Neurologist here in Bristol specialising in Ataxia so go there now much better.
Still go, ring up his secretary, the waiting time is about 12 weeks behind, what do you expect from your appointment? Please do go.
