Hi I have cerebellum ataxia. Does anyone find if they have an alcoholic drink it helps with the tremors? I find it can, however the next day they may be worse. I have a very rare form Scar 12 and there is no research being done as it is so rare.
Alcohol.: Hi I have cerebellum ataxia. Does anyone... - Ataxia UK
Alcohol.
im sure it does work but the trouble is you will get used to it and intake could go over the helping threshold to making it worse there are better ways to control it
Tremors sure can be a problem for us CA's! Alcoholic beverages give just a temporary relief, for some. I would recommend seeing a movement disorders specialist, who might have a more constructive idea to help you.
Unfortunately I became alcohol dependent which makes depression worse.
Yes it does help with the shaking but believe me, it's a slippery slope. I had to have a detox and although I shake, I sleep better and have more energy and don't end up crying all the time.
Take care xx
I dont drink alcohol as I fall over so only drink at home ! all the best Sylvia
I would say stay off the alcohol altogether as it damages your cerebellum. That's why when drunk you stagger. My husband had epilepsy and Attaxia undiagnosed what type not sure awaiting referral. But alcohol affects them both for sure. So i can't see it's a good thing even if it seems that way. Sorry to be a killjoy but do what you can to beat it wishing you all the best and so sorry for the difficulties you are having with the tremors
Ive heard using herbal cannabis mixed with peanut butter between 2 crackers is a good way of eating it
