Be warned that you can't always trust what hotels say. I booked a Travel lodge disabled friendly room and when I arrived late at night when it was impossible to change hotels plus I had already paid - they had NO disabled rooms.

Did they do anything to make up for the mistake?

They have offered me a room another time but I will not go there again. I needed a disabled room . They did not explain or offer me an alternative. At the time I was completely distraught and felt helpless. They obviously have no empathy for the disabled.

I think the should have at least paid for your evening meal or maybe a voucher for a future stay.

Ive done afew paraclimbing competitions around the country and I booked rooms for each, I ve never used travel lodge but now it seems i never will!

Premier Inn is a good place to start. We have often booked disabled rooms via their website, but we always call the hotel directly to make sure that the information is added to the booking, and occasionally have requested a particular room. If you speak to the hotel directly, they can also tell you whether they have a wet room or not.

With Travelodge, if you want a double bed, you need to let them know - otherwise you might end up with two singles.

If you go on Bookings.com you can tick a box for selecting hotels with disabled facilities, then select the type of room you need at the chosen hotel. There is space for describing your individual needs on the booking page. But as advised, check with hotel that the facilities are what you need, for example I have found that Premier Inn's disabled rooms tend to have a bath rather than wet room.

Hi Linda

I have heard from other people booking hotels in London that Holiday Inns are very good, particularly as they give a carer an adjoining room free of charge. Might be worth checking out.

Best wishes
