Great news, Xray25, that you're neurologist is going to write to the clinic about helping you! I bet it's somewhat of a relief to know what kind of stroke you had. I have Sporadic Cerebellar Ataxia (symptoms 24/7/idiopathic/unknown cause) and I wish I had more answers as to "why". Guess it's human nature to want a reason, although in my case knowing why won't change anything. My best to you..., ;o)

Yes, nature is a funny thing! Not much is known about ataxia, although if yours was caused by your stroke, I wouldn't think it would be progressive, which is a positive thing. Mine wasn't caused by a stroke, although I have no idea why I have ataxia. I'm the only one in my family, as far back as we know, that has ataxia. Therefore, if it's hereditary, the gene probably hasn't been identified yet. Oh well, we just have to do the best we can! On another note, I see you live in the UK. I live in the States-Michigan, although my moms whole family was born in Plymouth, England, except my mom, as she was born in Michigan (she's the baby of her family). Her parents immigrated here (mom's dad was in the Royal Navy and when he got out, he came to the USA for work) with her sister and brother, then had her. I visited England once...,beautiful country! I hope to go back one day..., ;o)
