Just wondered if anyone takes fexofenadine 120 mg and if it’s helped their asthma ....

I have been taking fostair 100/6 ,spiriva respimat, monteluckast and a generic one a day antihistamine which for the last year or so have managed to keep my asthma under control especially has I work with my main trigger but after catching some nice virus I haven’t been able to stop my peak flow dropping so followed my action plan by doubling up my fostair and from mon starting my rescue preds to no affect . Today I saw my dr and although my voice and cough indicate an asthma episode and my lung is heavy/achy, my chest is clear of wheeze so as we think it’s a mix of the virus ,the weather and the pollen count she’s prescribed me the stronger antihistamine in the hope that the combination will work and my peak flow will start the upwards movement towards the 459 it should be at I also take a steroid nasal spray for rhinitis and nasal drip

I have fexofenadine 180 plus Seretide 250/6 for my cough variant asthma. The extra 60 mg of fexofenadine made a big difference to me and the GP allows me to have an extra 60mg if pollen extra is very high and I’m struggling. Not needed it yet though.

I just have to take 120 once a day and I’m hoping they’ll work I do feel a bit better today my lung isn’t aching as much so hopefully they are along with the steroids not sure yet wether I’ll be kept on them as she just gave me a months supply but I’ll see if I see an overall improvement in that time too

I’m on the 180 all year. Have some nausea as a side effect and have Lansoprazole.

I take 180 all year but can take up to 3 I did think of asking the doctors for some 60's but never did... sometimes the 3 180's is too much but 2 180's isnt quite enough

I'm on the 180 fexofenadine and I'm also on Montelukast, been on both since January. The fexofenadine really helped at Christmas when I had a prolonged asthma flare up, it seemed to clear up chest quickly. Also having taken it through hay-fever season along with over counter beconase had no issues this year. Haven't had a prolonged asthma episode since January, so is working.

Hello...you have my sympathy...I am on my 5th virus this year and I take just symbicort which I've increased due to the asthma getting worse. I take fexofenadine for generalised allergic skin reactions and hayfever. I hope it works for you. Earlier this year I had a course of steroids for the asthma which didn't seem to help and just 2 weeks back I was told I have no wheeze though my peak flow is just about 20% reduced. I am planning to visit the asthma clinic to try and get help.

Good luck with your condition and the meds.

Sorry to here that .The regime I’ve been on has worked fine I even had a couple of viruses last year with no probs but this time it’s been bad but we think it’s a combination of the virus ,weather and a very high pollen count which my lungs haven’t coped well with hence the new antihistamine being added

Hi, I am on Fexafenadine 180mg 3 times daily & it used to really help but now the symptoms are breaking through. Have also been on Montelukast but now take Desloratine in combination with Fexofenadine as well as being on Relvar 184/22 twice daily.

That doesn’t sound good I’m just on one a day to see if it helps as I have atopic asthma which hasn’t responded as well as it should have with prednisone but I have woken up already feeling a difference in my nose so fingerscrossed it will work for me x

I think Fexofenadine works for allergic rhinitis but is no good for non allergic rhinitis.

Fexofenadine has a fairly long life but is absorbed quite quickly

It takes 1 hr to start working

Lasts up to 24 hours... but I find in the summer months it wears off sometime early morning and I wake up as the red eyed monster (sore bloodshot red eyes)

fortunately apart from sore sticky eyes and the rhinitis I don’t get bad symptoms often and as it’s grass and tree pollen that affect me I usually have it spring and autumn worse than the summer as I tend to try avoid fresh mown grass if I can ,working nights helps a lot too I think

I was actually prescribed it after being told by gp I was allergic to various things including dust and to take am over the counter antihistamine... I emptied the Hoover into the outside bin and as I did that the wind blew the dust back into my face (so I breathed in the dust)... i started sneezing blood later that day and had trouble breathing

Oh that sounds bad I’ve had allergies since childhood although I seem to becoming more prone to intolerances and allergies as I get older 😟
