Antihistamine with asthma meds

Hello everyone

I have just started taking budesonide morning & night. I use ventolin as well when needed. The weather here in the south of Spain is warming up & the flowers are starting to bloom, a sign of Spring. I am allergic to pollen. Can I take histamines while also taking the asthma meds? Thanks

Yes, although usual advice is to try and avoid sedating ones if your asthma is bad because they can make you sleep through a worsening of your symptoms... any normal OTC ones should be fine tho (benadryl, claritin etc). Hope that helps x

I agree with Emma's response. I take Cetirizine morning and night along with all the other asthma medication. Hope the antihistamines work and you can enjoy the spring flowers. 😊

Research shows that if you have asthma and hay fever, it's better to treat both conditions at the same time and that it is safe to do so.

Yes I take a prescription anti histamines daily and also take budesonide

In the summer months I take my usual asthma inhalers plus a nasal spray and a prescription tablet antihistamine.
