I have had asthma since I was very young and am now 16 but recently the chemist have stopped giving me my usual repeat prescription of a ventolin and fostair every month because apparently I have had too many inhalers this year so I now have to wait till I have a asthma review until I can get my next inhalers which means I now have no inhalers for a week and I also have a chest infection.

Hi I would contact your doctor first thing tomorrow and either get an urgent appointment or a telephone call back from them. It is ridiculous stopping all your inhalers just like that when you obviously need them. x

I would contact your doctor asap, being without your inhalers whilst dealing with infection is simply dangerous.

Get an emergency appointment with GP. I know it sucks but a ventolin inhaler a month is way too much. All the research shows this is a trigger for looking at better control

How stupid is that! It is possible to buy Salbutamol over the counter from a chemist in the UK without prescription.

I can see that it may be time to have a good hard look at the way you use your inhalers as very often overuse is showing that you are using it incorrectly. Maybe a spacer may deliver it better?

I suspect this has happened because the GP has limited the number of repeats to force you have a review. The pharmacist should have told you when you had your last repeat that you should have a review. Clearly a lack of communication somewhere

It is dangerous to not have any inhalers at hand especially when you have a chest infection. Don't wait until you need it - go immediately to a GP or if not possible,to the emergency in a hospital. "Offcut" says you can buy Salbutamol (Ventolin) from the chemist without a prescription. At least make sure that you have this on hand if your asthma gets worse and you need it quickly. Also a week without a preventer while you also have a chest infection is not a good idea. See a doctor. Good Luck - Hope you get better quickly.

Oh Dear, that's a new one..unbelievable, go to A&E they will prescribe for you. Take care xx

I'd suggest get an emergency appointment / telephone consult with you GP to see you through. Sounds like you may need to see them for the infection anyway!
