Montelukast & Viral Induced Asthma

Hello everyone. I am wondering if anyone has a child taking Montelukast. We were given it today. My 5 year old girl has viral induced asthma but is not on any medication. She was taking a steriod inhaler for 9 omths and discontinued this in Easter due to not having any attacks. Unfortunately we needed a course of steriods in Septemebr which is the first in a year. She can go 8-12months without an 'attack' and then is given steriod medication. I would love to hear from people whose children are taking Montelukast and if they have side effects and if there viral induced asthma is better controlled.
