Hi something is starting to worry me as lately i have no energy at all im worried as im starting to think that i'm close to another flare up. I seem to be forever tired and dizzy. i'm currently on ventolin and seretide but have no idea why i feel this way.

i want to start a professional study course but i'm thinking i don't have much energy at all and feel so exhausted - feel like i'm 82 And not my actual age of 28. i don't want put my studies off for this asthma...but my asthma has taken over my life.

Is this normal to be so exhausted and sleepy?

I feel like that most days, asthma can make you tired as lungs work twice as hard.

keep an eye on your iron so not anemic.

keep an eye on dizzyness could be blood preasure or ear problem.

better to see the doctor and talk to him and might do tests for you.

Rest when you can,

hope you go on ok from a tired glynis xxxx

im worrying as my blood pressure shoots up pre attack

Hi Glynis,

I am slightly concerned as this shot up like crazy when i had my last attack..I cant get over this tired effect. This why i removed all my extra medicines as they added to it. Im rethinking the study element as this may just make me more exhausted - but then this proves that ive let asthma take over.

I will book in at the GP (the asthma GP though!) I think i'd feel less worried if i had the added boost of flixotide that woody and ginny suggested.

But my peakflow is at 400 from a usual 325/350, im confused! (and living up to my name!)

the tiredness could simple be that your asthmas not very well controlled. remember that the body repairs itself when we sleep, so feeling tired is the bodies way of telling you to slow down. I know in the past I've come home from work and just fell asleep in the chair.

the other thing you have to consider like Glynis has already said is the iron level in your body. Unfortunately your iron levels will tend to drop of monthly with your cycle. If the body is low in iron then the body has lower levels of hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carry oxygen.

May need to consider diet and see if you get all the minerals your body needs, you as a female need to consume around 18mg a day, but also don't forget things like vitamin A, low levels of that will hinder the bodys ability to absorb iron.

Also certain athletic types need to watch iron levels and the groups of athletes may be at greatest risk of iron depletion and deficiency include female athletes, distance runners, and vegetarian athletes.

Good news on the peakflows increasing, long may they stay like it.
