I had a bit of a flareup yesterday morning - nothing serious and eased after 2 puffs of Ventolin. I usually feel a bit tired and wobbly after, so took it easy the rest of the day. Woke up this morning feeling really shaky and giddy with butterflies in my tummy - the kind of feeling you get before a really scary exam or hospital appointment only I haven't got anything like that coming up! I know Ventolin can cause dizziness and shakiness/nerviness but can the effects last this long? I've got a lot to do today, and it's taking me ages because I'm wobbling like a half-set jelly.

Ventolin effects do not last so long for me. It sounds like your asthma flare was a little bit more serious that you thought, and may still be lurking there.
It is playing up a bit at the moment - I'm on the borderline of needing to go back to the asthma nurse for a stronger inhaler, so I'm hoping everything calms down! I'm doing the bare minimum today and fortunately have a quieter day tomorrow!
Definitely time to have a review with your asthma nurse. Ventolin side effects probably wear off as quickly as the effectiveness of the medicine. But poor breathing can also result in light headedness and butterflies. And that could be over breathing, mouth breathin or shallow breathing.
When we have an asthma flare up, it's not uncommon to adjust our breathing to try and compensate for the chest tightness and we're usually not aware we're doing it, even in our sleep. So getting the flare up under control is important, but it wouldn't hurt to see if your asthma nurse or GP can refer you to a respiratory physiotherapist.
Mandeville, sorry I don't take ventolin. I am on symbicort. The reason for not having ventolin, I had the most awful palpitations after ventolin, this means heart pounding being very jittery, also headache feeling awful, sorry I can't help you any more cheers shaft52
