They said they normally get them up next day to walk. But because my mum has been so sleepy they are leaving it a day or so. Our main problem is she finds it very difficult to eat and drink so we are making sure she is being assisted in this and is offered only foods she will eat. And because she has lost her teeth only mushy foods. We spoke at length to a dietician who said she will be given supplements. We check every time what she has eaten. We have also taken in some of her favourite foods and the nurses said they will give them to her. We do anyway when we go.
Saw a doctor today who pointed out that there is only a limited amount they can do and she is 89! I said I don't care about her age. We just want her to leave hospital to go back into the home (they are being brilliant) and to hopefully have a few more years left yet. But she seems a bit better today (wednesday). Me and a younger sister have sharing cabs to visit (about 7 pounds a journey) so its taking a toll on our finances. We can get a bus but it takes about 45 minutes and its so cold. My sister finds it difficult to use buses because of osterarthritis. So fingers crossed she is out soon.
