It's a fresh new week and the sun is shining. I've just hung a load of washing out hoping it will dry - it has two chances!
Our cat, Socks, has turned into a fussy little madam and has declined to eat - or even approach - some of the foods I thought she might like, so I've posted them on Facebook and someone is going to collect them to see if her cat will enjoy them.
Socks is definitely ruling the roost now! But we wouldn't be without her. Having a welcome when we come home is so lovely, and she's not really much trouble - she just knows her own mind!
It was really Don's experiences with Puss and Smudge that encouraged us to have another cat after a few years without. We have no regrets.
Later on, my friend is picking me up and we're off to play Scrabble with our WI group. It's always a good afternoon as good humour abounds. We play in pairs and no one takes the game too seriously. Tea and biscuits are always enjoyed too.
Tomorrow afternoon is Breathe Easy and that is also something I look forward to once a month. It's good to meet up with others with similar issues and, again, good humour abounds. We'll have a quiz and a raffle and we often have a speaker. It's a lovely social group where coughs are not remarked upon in the way they are when out with others. ('Ooh! That's a nasty cough. You ought to see the doctor.' You know what I mean.)
On Wednesday, we're taking out my sister-in-law for a birthday treat and just hoping the weather will stay fine. If not, it'll be a very long lunch instead!
It's nice to have things to look forward to.
I hope you all have something good to look forward to this week.
xx Moy

Here it teased us early and we had drizzle but now it's come back!Socks sounds like an orange and white version of Baby who is fine and looking forward to her 20th birthday soon!
Wow! That's a good age. Our other cats made it to 17 and we thought they did well. Two (unrelated) got a tumour in the jaw and the other one had dementia; we kept her going all the time she still had some pleasure in life, but once she got to the point of not eating and not wanting to be stroked, we knew it was time to say goodbye. It was very sad but the right thing for her. Xx
Thank you for bringing joy to a Monday Moy. Lovely to hear from you with all your news. Lots of things to look forward to. Nice day here so far and Pete has to go for a blood test soon but maybe we’ll have a coffee afterwards. Easter will soon be here. Hope Socks is taking care of you both. 😄
Hope you get to enjoy your coffee - and maybe a little something with it? We called in our local coffee shop on Saturday and discovered Bannoffee cake. Yum! Xx
Hello Moy! A lovely, sunny post to start the week, just what we need 😘 thank you x
I have told myself that if the weather is ok, I must get out into the garden, if not out in the car somewhere! I am finding that leaving the house is becoming a problem anxiety wise, and this obviously affects my breathing adversely. So, today is one of those days, the sun is just coming out, no excuses!!
I hope you enjoy your Scrabble afternoon (my daughter and I play scrabble go!), and the rest of the week you have planned.
Do you find it's better to have company when you go out? When I was having major vertigo issues, I used to feel better when someone was with me. It didn't matter that they wouldn't be able to help me much if I had an attack, but just knowing they were there had a calming effect.
I hope the sun keeps shining and you're able to enjoy a bit of fresh air. Xx Moy
Thank you Moy 😊 kind of you to take the time to reply like that.
There are pros and cons to having someone with me: I can feel rushed, even though I know they are not hurrying me and on the other hand, they can carry my cylinder for me and I don’t have to worry about parking (I don’t yet have my blue badge). But I can do it, can’t rely on others, they’re all so busy!
The sun is still out, am just about to venture forth!! Xx
I get what you mean about the pros and cons. I guess it's all a bit of a balancing act. Glad you are going to venture out. Make the most of it while it's shining. 😁 xxMoy
Here so far it's been a nice and productive morning as I have also done a load of washing and put it on the line nice and early as well, had a walk round the neighbourhood for some fresh air and exercise, caught up with my French online class and completed my online future learn course as well!
I have booked for swimming tomorrow, Thursday and Friday for 3pm which are my things to look forward to.
That sounds a great week to look forward to. I had a good morning at my beloved windmill yesterday.. The gas service man came this morning. Tomorrow pulmonary rehab and in the evening a Wildlife Trust talk about amphibians with some real live great crested newts to meet. Not everyone's cup of tea perhaps, but definitely mine. xxx
Here they don't keep a spare key at the offices like they did at the other places so you have to wait in for contractors to come in!
I would rather wait in for contractors myself than the alternative as once they had just let themselves in without knocking and waiting to be invited in which is rude!
At the other place they had wanted to visit with a surveyor back in the April of 2022 at 9am one Wednesday morning and I had smelt a rat and reckoned we were all getting thrown out in due course so what I did was let them come in to do what they needed to do but lied and said I wouldn't be there as I had an appointment early that couldn't be changed as I knew what was going on and how right I was as well!
We could do with a few newts around here! The developers are ruining a much loved area nearby and we've been unable to stop them. Shame we couldn't have found a few newts as it might have stopped them in their tracks - for a while, at least.
Where is your windmill? We have a restored one near us. I haven't visited it for ages, but now you've mentioned it, I think I might.
My first ever visit there was with a group of children with special needs aged between 7 and 11. We managed to get them to the top but coming down proved to be a challenge, mainly because they all eanted to stay at the top! It was fun and we all enjoyed it. We took our own children there when they were young but haven't been inside for a very long time.
I love the history of the windmills and how the millers used the sweeps to signal to others.
I took a party of autistic kids round our mill once. I remember 2 of them most clearly, a big girl who sceamed and squealed all the way up, but she got there. Apparently this was a big achievement for her. The other was a little boy who listened intently and took in everything I said. I wish we could have him back as a guide. xxx
What a shame your groups have closed. Are you in a village? Some of our smaller WIs have closed, or joined with others, but we still have quite a few to choose from near me. If it's something you miss, you might find another one near you if you look on the NFWI website.
I'm very lucky to have found a lovely art group running at our community library. Would there be something similar near you, I wonder?
Glad to hear you're out there topping up your Vitamin D. We all need to do that if we can. Enjoy!
Hi Moy, sorry to here about Socks - We have a she called Coco and she will not eat anything that does not suit her. Anne does not like me doing this, I buy her Tuna, in spring water or brine, no drain - I give her cat treats anything so she will eat. Anne says I am making her not eat cat food, I though would rather give in. We have a Tom Cat called Bobby, he would eat the tin I reckon also, he is so greedy. x
Years ago when I worked in a bakery there were 2 cats that visited one was a brown tabby called Bobby and the other was a black one called Sooty and the manager would feed them so they kept coming back to protect the place from rodents taking up residence there!
Sounds like you have an exciting week coming up Moy, its good to have things to do. Like you I made the most of the good weather yesterday and had my washing out on the line which dried quickly. I even managed to get a little bit of gardening done. Sadly here in Manchester we are back to rain again, lets hope it cheers up soon x
It's not such a bright day here today, but there's no rain forecast so fingers crossed!! It's a pleasure to be able to open doors and windows without the driving wind and rain.
Our village is locally known as 'wild and windy Willingdon'! You get the picture. 🤣
I'm glad you had a good day yesterday. Getting the washing out on the line is a rare treat these days and definitely something to celebrate! It's the little things ...
