please get her out of bed. its the worst thing,i know ive been there. ended up with numonia and a stay in hospital. although we aer tired we have to keep as active as possible. hope your mom can do it regards badger.

Many of us get depressed, anxious or very tired at times. However, I would say that if there is a change to what is 'normal' for your mum, or if you are at all worried, then you should call the doctor, if only for a chat.

Yes, her condition needs assessing so that if it is primarily mood related, you can do what you need to do to get her moving which, as has been pointed out, keeping as active as possible is so important.

Good luck

I took to my bed sleeping day and night, too sleepy to know whether I was ill or not. Ended up in hospital with pneumonia. So call the doctor -r ring NHS direct today. All the best

its very easy to give up and stay in bed in the warm where you are not putting any exertion on your body and lungs. But it is the worst you can do. I think we all tke to our beds at time, especially when things have been extra hard , but its not good long term. Her mood needs looking at and then with that find ways to re assure her but yes I would call the doc.

Ask the doctor to pay a visit although I would not be surprised if her staying in bed is caused by depression. We can lead a long useful life with copd, as long as we get exercise. Staying in bed is the very worse thing she can do. Ask her to join a support group. There are very many out there with copd. And remind her she is not alone. There are many of us with copd, and even I at the very severe stage using oxygen for mobility, still lead a reasonably active interesting life:-)

I am the same as derrylynne, I get up every morning and get out and about every day, depending on weather, either on my mobility scooter or with the rollator. I wont give into it as that is the worst thing you can do. Hope your mum feels better soon and you keep well as you are important too.

a short walk each day is good ( if its possible for you), it is important to keep as active as possible, and eat good foods, and drink plenty of good drinks. I have had copd for 6 years, and know how awful and debilitating it is., All the best.
