I am an MA animation student who is working on an animation film regarding second hand smoking and its adverse effects on young asthmatic children aged 5-10. Would be very grateful if any one leave any comments... Thank you!

Sorry, but parents of asthmatic children are very irresponsible if they smoke in the house. "They know not what they do"

Actually even if they smoke outside, a certain amount is still in their clothing, hair, etc. I can tell easily if people around me are smokers.

Smoking is a choice, kids inhaling their parents smoke is not.

Rant over - this is one of my hobby-horses!!

yes, i am carrying out my research on third hand smoking. But do you think parents are aware of the fact that even if they smoke away from their children they yet cause great dire effects on their children?

Anyone with an ounce of sense would not smoke anywhere near children with asthma or not, but I am not sure they realise if they smoke outside they actually still carry the toxins back into the premises with them and that endangers children.

When I had my children we did not know of the dangers unfortunately.

Have you been intouch with BLF about their campaign on smoking in cars with children on board?

In my years of experience of trying to avoid smoke, I think there are many, many smokers who have the belief that it is their 'right' to smoke, and this means most smokers get tarred with the same brush. If parents DON'T know they are harming their children, well they really ought to by now! There is enough about it on TV - the kids with smoke going in through their noses and mouths, with the voiceover saying "If YOU smoke, your CHILDREN smoke"

With all the publicity about passive smoking, if smokers don't know it is harming their children I feel it is because they don't WANT to know, they would rather shut it out.

One of the best things to happen for asthmatics and COPD sufferers is the smoking ban, I can now go out to a pub or restaurant and enjoy a meal without having to leave early when getting wheezy. As I said in a previous post, their smoking habit is their choice, my chronic lung condition is not a choice for me and is definitely exacerbated by their smoking.

PS Good luck to those of you who are trying so hard to give up.
