Have you been tested for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea? I used to waken with seriously dry mouth and occasionally with sever headache across my forehead. It was consultant rheumatologist (when I was there for diagnosis of fibromyalgia) suggested I might have OSA and it was worsening the fibro symptoms and he referred me to chest clinic. I had the overnight tests done and it was found I had OSA and my blood O2 levels were dropping to 82/83 in the night. I now have C-PAP machine that I use nightly

Hi. I use Biotene gel which I find very good. It's about £7 a tube (50g). But maybe available on prescription. Kath

Thank you

oh yes, every medication I take causes this. Biotene in its various forms is very good. A big Boots will have lots of different remedies, which shows you that you are not alone. It would be a good idea to get some relieving agent as perpetually dry mouth can cause teeth problems. Don't worry, just find the remedy which best suits you.

Yes I have had this problem for years. Certain drugs do cause dry mouth. Drinking plenty of water and keeping a drink by the bed will help. Many people are dehydrated without realising. If you squeeze a bit of skin on the back of your hand you can yell. If it springs back quickly you are OK, if the bit you squeezed doesn't go back quickly, then you are dehydrated.

Good idea.

I get a very dry mouth but I think it's to do with the oxygen I have on at night. I would like to know something that would sort this as well.

Sympathise SM it no fun, really hope you find a product that helps you I wouldn't know if medication adds to my own prob; as Ive had Sjorgrens Syndrome for approx 15yrs and I'm at the stage where nothing but water helps.

My mouths like the Sahara desert 24/7, tongue even cracks bcos it never gets a drop of moisture on it so I daren't go anywhere without my little bottle of water need to take a sip every few mins or I'm unable to speak. Have tried everything on the market, sprays, tubes of gel, pkts of gums but unfortunately they all tend to make the problem worse not better.

Best of luck.

Hi all, I occasionally get a run of dry mouth nights. I put a Fisherman's friend lozenge in my mouth and it solves my problem. As we all know what works for one does not mean it will work for everyone. Breath easy exercise often. Cheers Dave from the LoS.
