Middle age is 5 years older than whatever age I am at the time.
I read an article recently that said middle age is now around 65 due to people living longer.

Hi, I recently said to my brother something about him being middle aged and he was quite indignant - he's 56! Ha ha ha! I asked him just how long he was expecting to live! To me, middle age is half the age you expect to live, although I must admit, until I was struck down with this diabolical disease that is emphysema (around 53 before it became disabling), I never thought of myself as middle aged and was always young at heart, "will you ever grow up" was a comment directed at me many times! I'm 60 next week and every time it enters my head it shocks me! Libby
According to the article Lynne read I am officially middle age - great, feel better already

Blimey middle age at 65 ? does this mean most of the population can expect to live until they're 130 years old, It strikes me if that's the case can we expect the pension age to rise to 100 in the near future?
I'm 68 with copd, so I can't expect to live as long as most, but I'll get back to you when I'm around the 115 mark
