Not very happy at moment....

I am prone to abcesses and have one just underneath my arm! Had it for about 4 weeks now and have been on antibiotics since last wednesday but it seems to be getting bigger and more infected. Have 2 smaller ones on my leg which are going down but not the other flaming thing. I am having to walk like an apewoman on that side!

The doctor looked at it again on Friday and said - just stay on the antibiotics and I will see you in 10 or 20 days OMG! He said it cant be removed just yet because of the infection. Will give it another few days and if no better am going back to drs and ask for referral to the hospital instead. Its so painful.....Doctors hey?

Sorry you are suffering love. My mum was prone to abcesses and I know how painful they were for her. Keep on with the antibios. I hope you get it sorted soon. xx

My you are late bird auntymary :)

Thanks for your sympathy. It will be sorted one way or another. If I get too fed up with it will just take myself off to the hospital for them to deal with it. I'm old hand at dealing with them.

I hope you get it sorted out soon. I don't get them myself but my hubby has had the occasional one. I remember getting an antibiotic powder for him to use it was great but it's gone off the market now.

I have good prescription lotion to put on which usually works except on the severe ones like this. It will be sorted though - trust me! :) x

i am very sorry for the pain you are going through, you say you have had the abcess for four weeks is this the first lot of anti biotics for it.

i think you should see a specialist.

i have been very lucky i have only had two which were on my back, but it was due to my dibetes.

good luck i hope you get some relief.

Ta for your reply thatcham1939. I have skin disease called hidrudunitis suppourativa! Which means I get them quite quite a lot. Most go away fairly quickly but this ones a beast....which is why I waited a while to see what would happen. It will need removal by hospital otherwise it will come up again and again. Had a few excised before for that reason. x

Ooooh ! I really feel for you. I`m lucky (touch wood!) the abcesses I have are usually under my teeth. 10 days !! 2 days is too long to be left in agony. As everyone else has said - get thee to the hospital. Good luck, mskpjb (Sheila)

Imodine is good I think, ask the doc.Hope it clears up soon with the antibiotics. X

Thanks everyone for your replies. The antibiotics are starting to work now thank goodness! Once the infection clears up I will get it done by local anaesthetic so it cant come back. Had a few done before like that. Its still painful though...
