Symbicort and gum swelling
Hi I have checked the British National Formulary for you, In high doses (which Symbicort 200 isn't, in normal puff pattern) hoarseness, throat irritation and oral thrush are reported. All these symptoms are usually reduced by gargling with water after use.
You may need to seek further avice from either your GP or dentist

Vicky
Thanks Vicky, im seeing the consultant on Wednesday so will ask him .
I forgot to add im very thirsty as well .
Are you on spiriva as well? that can make you thirsty. I am also on symbicort and have had a sore throat and tongue for the last three weeks. I get sick of the side effects, the last inhaler gave me the shakes, I couldn't keep a hand still and felt very embarrassed. Oh well such is life. Hope your gums get sorted.
ahhh oral thrush and thirstyness, makes sense now I do suffer quite a bit, everynow and then I use daktarin mouth gel
I have recently been changed from Symbicort due to Thrush in my throat. I was very hoarse and for some days lost my voice completely. I was due to give the Father of the Bride speech and from the day before I had been losing my voice again, fortunately I got it back to just hoarse at the appropriate time!
I had my first appointment with a Respiratory Consultant and an ENT consultant. The ENT Guy said I had thrush in my throat and gave me antibiotics and the Respiratory Consultant gave me new inhalers - QVAR and Serevent and showed me how to use a spacer. The COPD Nurse at my GP practice did not show me any Inhaler techniques nor was a spacer suggested.
