Ask maybe
Morning David,
As stitch says under the Data Protection Act you can view your health records. There is nothing in the law to prevent your GP from showing you. I have always asked for a copy of any letters sent from the docs at hospital and got them no probs. If not you may need to make a formal request when seeing your GP, in writing or by phoning the surgery to make a request and agree a date / time. Good luck. Marilyn xx
Actually as an ex trained nurse, I would do it in writing. You then have evidence of your request. Marilyn. x
I recently had my records from my GP's surgery back in May just 2 days after requesting them from the practice manager. Recently I had a reply with regards to a complaint I put in against one of the Dr's and was so shocked to read diagnoses that were diagnosed in 2010 that I had never been told about and were not in the copy of my notes that that I had in May. So be careful as it seems they dont disclose everything to you in the notes you request. I hope David that your practice is different and you manage to get all the information that you need. Best wishes Lorraine
