Hi

Having had a quick look I would guess it is only a weight loss tool (if it works) - doesn't look like it's any form of exercise like walking etc - you would need exercise that works on the bodies muscles/stamina - like walking, swimming etc. Are you wanting to exercise to work on your fitness levels or to loose weigh or both. I'm sure lots of people will come along soon and share with you how they exercise.

I asked my doc if this vibrational plate would help increase my bone density (have lung and bone prob among other things), my doc just shook her head and said just keep doing what you do, that is walking, exercise class and there is something else I have just started with, that involves weighted resistant hydraulic training equipment. I'll share at a later date when I can offer some comparison and changes that are taking place in the body.

Regular exercise even just walking regularly will help exercise your respiratory apparatus, the diaphragm muscles that help us breathe etc, for those who can walk briskly for several paces then pause or slow up to recover breath, then repeat, can also achieve some cardiac exercise.

I do not think the vibration place will exercise or improve respiratory or cardiac.

Good luck with the programme you choose, you need something that will get both respiratory and cardiac exercised really. Also to look after bone health you need weight bearing exercise and some form of resistance training.

If you have deconditioned, try to access pulmonary rehabilitation, ask for a referral through your GP or consultant.

Good luck

Hi, the vibration pate just vibrates the muscles at very high speed which helps to tone. It's not really exercise but does help those already toned and defined to stay toned and defined! Hope that helps!

Well they have one of these in our local authority gym, you need to have a risk assessment before you can use it with a health questionnaire. The blurb on the wall says it is good for bones and muscles. I have started using it and I find it good, it is a strange feeling (best to start off at a slow rate) but you can feel all your muscles kind of twitching. I would not imagine that it would help you to lose weight but I think it could be good for muscles and bones. I still do all my other workouts, fee weights, treadmill etc. One of the really odd things I have noticed is it makes me cough up, I think it must be the vibration. Perhaps someone knows the scientific reason for this.

Hi Miles

Is fee weights a typo, like free weights, if yes: what are free weights.

Do you exercise mainly at home?

I can't use one of these - the vibrating takes all my breath away very quickly.
