Hospital Appointment Cancelled

Well it's happened again. Phone call to say my appointment with my consultant has been cancelled due to unforseen circumstances. Thats twice now, since I was diagnosed with COPD, and It really annoys me as I am waiting for test results.

Is this a common problem or is it just my bad luck?

Thats pants davhill, maybe it will be worth you calling them in the morning to requet an urgent appointment as this has happened twice and saying how anxious you are?

You got nothing to lose and sometimes things need a shove to get moving. Whatever you decide, keep positive and strong.

Tanyamarie I did ask that at the time they called to cancel. She just said that the appointments will go out in the next week, but could not promise a early date for the appointment.

I think I will just wait and see what happens in the next week maybe I might drop lucky. I will also raise the issue with my consultant when I do get to see him

It might be an idea to get your Doctor involved in this. He/she should be jumping on the hospital to get things moving.

I sympathise. Frustrating, isn't it? A couple of years ago I spoke to my consultant's secretary to make an urgent appointment, after receiving a (luckily false) diagnosis by letter which, as far as I could make out on the internet, suggested that my lung problem was incurable and I (with young children) had only a few years to live - only to have him cancel on me - twice - because he preferred to go to meetings rather than attend his own clinic!!!

I agree with the PALS suggestion. I called them and they were brilliant. They sorted everything out and reported him to hospital management.

Saw my consultant today and looks like things are starting to move. I am being put on rehab 6 week course. All my medical records from the past 13 years been passed on to my new consultant at my new hospital. I have also been told that I have pulmomary fibrose on the bottom part of my lungs and emphysema at the top. PF was diagnosed ten years and Emphysema diagnosed 18 months . I can't do nothing in singles it always has to be a double blow. Has the rehab prog helped others on this forum?
