Hi, I was very ill in 1963 with a form of *Legionaires disease* or so I was told. I was one of 5 in Wirral who caught this bug, 3 babies and 1 teenageer died (overnight I believe) I was the 5th - obviously I survived. I was treated with penicillian as the doctors did not know what else to do, I do remember my lungs where full and the Consultant called me the girl with the frosted glass chest, I lost 3 stone in as many days, the hospital were wonderful, the staff did everything for me. Thankfully I was strong enough to recover, altho it did take approx 3 months before I returned to work. Maximonkey
I have contracted Leginaires Disease in 2007 from a aircondition at a hotel in Rome.I can still not walk and I talk funny, but before I tell you the whole story.
I would just say, that I live in Denmark and are danish. Are you still interested?
Well, I know this is an old message (I've just joined), but if you're still interested, I am currently recovering from Legionnaires Disease. I'm 50. I was a smoker until I caught it, now quit! I live in Sutton Coldfield, near Birmingham, but I caught it in August 2013 while visiting family in New Jersey and New York. It was a baking hot very humid summer there, so it looks like I acquired it from the natural environment, as the Depts of Health found no reported outbreak. I ended up in a New York Hospital in intensive care. The first few days were grim - my family were warned I might not survive. But with aggressive treatment and life support, I did. I recovered to an extent, but I'm left with much breathing issues and low SPO2, racing pulse, high blood pressure, severe fatigue and tiredness, and inevitable weight gain as any exercise is exhausting. I'm happy to tell the story if you still want it. Andy.
