Still no definitive diagnosis- somewhere between chronic bronchitis / severe chronic asthma / small airway disease. Since RSV a year ago clearing my chest is much much harder. But what I’m finding now is when I do (mainly lying down in bed on the morning as it seem a bit easier) I can find myself more (not less) breathless through out the rest of the day. Anyone find this? Not sure whether coughing irritates the wall of the airways & despite the mucus being removed, they are even tighter than to begin with.

Mucus & breathlessness
Ru on a mucolytic eg cabocysteine or nacys,to thin mucous and make it easier to get up?also ru on a bronchodilater like so salbutamol? Respiratory physio usually advise using it prior to lung clearance.if yr chest is tight, it's usually indicates you need salbutamol or if on mart regime, use that. Have u tried controlled breathing technique- see Aluk website - pursed lips breathing technique. I find it really useful whn struggling. It helps u to relax too.have they had a camera into throat/ larynx to check for vcd/ilo or a bronchoscopy to see into lungs? Must be hard for u not having a diagnosis xxx
Pat's advice is excellent. Have you had a full works examination yet to decide just what is going on? Do you have a consultant? Go back to your doctor and ask to see a consultant or a respiratory physio. You need to find a regime which suits your needs.
You must clear your chest. Hopefully in 10 years time you'll still be very much with us. I think a decent respiratory physio could help you if there is one of those rather rare creatures in your area.
Perhaps try taking an over the counter tonic and Vitamin D3 to boost your immune system. Have you been given antibiotics at all?
Can't really give you advice PW, but sending my best wishes. I do hope they get you a proper diagnosis and a regime that works for you to clear your lungs. xx
