I have had COPD for a long time severe but i control breathing with d to thin eep breathing. Now have persistent mucus and a cough. I thought it was acid reflux but chemist suggested NACSYS to thin mucus to replace carbocisteine which I had been taking. Anyone any experience with NACSYS?

NACSYS - is it any good?
I've not tried it but members here seem to like it.the important thing is to do dedicated lung clearance sessions if u don't already.see ALUK website - lung clearance techniques eg acbt, huffing etc.carbocysteine+ nacys thin the mucous but it has to be cleared to reduce infections.i sometimes increase or decrease carbocysteine, with drs permission, depending on how it is. It's worth talking to Dr about ? Reflux as its v common with lung disease
Hi I take Nacsys and it does help.
I cannot tolerate carbocysteine and found nacsys much more tolerable. Patk1 is right though. Whatever you use to help thin the mucus, emptying your lungs is the most important
hi I take nacsys. Aswell I’ve got emphysema I take these to thin mucus aswell patk1 is correct about lung clearance 😊xxx
I have been on Nacsys for about 2 ish year and 8 find it really helps me. I have severe emphysema. Hope you find it helps you too 😊
I like taking carbocisteine, lung clearance is key.Regards GERD/ Acid reflux, I weaned myself off omneprasol as it should not be used LT and has links to arthritis. I used a herbalist who prescribed slippery elm to line tummy b4 eating. I slowly reduced the slippery elm. Now I rely on coconut water which is an antacid, it's perfect to calm the acid down and delicious. x
Yes definitely I would try it ,it has been a revelation for me
It can be prescribed like Carbocysteine is . I've been prescribed it in both France and Croatia. I believe it comes in capsules and powder to dissolve in water, I imagine this is much better for the people already taking oral medicines & works faster.
As Patk1 says, lung clearance is vital. P
PS N-Acetyl Cysteine/ NAC has other useful qualities - I cant recall what though 🤔 😳 , I'll check the NHS website!
