I spoke to the team and they were fantastic. Great support. Hope you're feeling better now xx.Sheila
Hello,
That is very good to hear. I hope you continue to feel better as the days go by.
Go well
Pauline
Good news HerLadyship, pleased to to know that you are feeling better, sometimes it can take a few days after your course has finished to feel really good again, I'm sure all will turn out well for you.. Take care, with much love,π & may God bless you always... Primrose 123...xx
That sounds like a step in the right direction. Hope the progress continues. xxx
Thank you Alberta 56π€
πYes,please do keep me posted on your progress HerLadyship, just continue to be positive, the fact your breathing is starting to ease a little is a very good sign, it proves that although it is a slow process, the medication is most definitely working,( slowly but surely.) Some people take that little bit longer than others to get back on their feet again whilst on the steroids & antibiotics, you are doing well,so just look on the bright side & you will be fine soon, HerLadyship..πxxx Primrose123...(PS.. Remember to ask your doctor for a rescue pack, ( that is 40 prednisolone+ 14 day course of antibiotics) my doctor advised me that I should at all times have a rescue pack in event of a flare-up, which I found to be very good advice, you may never require to use them HerLadyship, but it certainly gives you great piece of mind knowing that you have them on hand, should the occasion arise that you do need them..xxx π
Thank you primrose123 ...are the antibiotics in the rescue pack for 14 days? What type is most often used .... Doxycycline? Amoxicillin? Clarithomycin? Hopefully not need them ,but you're right it's peace of mind!!?
I was on Amoxicillin for quite some time HerLadyship, to be honest I felt they did absolutely nothing for me, I was having flare- ups on a pretty regular basis( every 6/8 weeks) I was referred to a very helpful Consultant who recommended Doxycycline antibiotics ,a 14 day course + a 5 day course of prednisolone, 40 tablets,8 per day for 5 days, & I have to say that I did find quite a remarkable difference, I think most patients hand in a sputum sample to their doctor & that will define what is the correct antibiotic that would be best for them, once you use your rescue pack always ensure that you get a replacement pack in the event of a flare-up..If you are prescribed Doxycycline it is of the utmost importance that you drink a full glass of water when taking the tablets... I wish you a speedy recovery & much happiness for the future HerLadyship, if at anytime you feel like a little chat, please do not hesitate to contact me..Kind regards, ππ€π Primrose 123..( Maria) xxx
Thanks so much primrose 123. .my review was supposed to be in July 2025 but I've asked for an appointment before that. Hopefully the consultant will organise tests to see what the situation is now. When I was in hospital Sept/Oct I was on the same steroids and Doxycycline which seemed to work better and didn't have the ghastly side effects I'll definitely be getting the rescue pack in ... breathlessness is so scary! I also wonder if I'm on the right inhaler ... another question for consultant/respiratory team. Hope you're keeping safe and warm ...not sure where you are but I see on the news lots of snow in places! We all need to be careful ... I'll not be mixing with too many people for the foreseeable future!
π Delighted all is looking so much better for you now HerLadyship, if your appointment is too far ahead to see the consultant, I would suggest that you most definitely contact your GP regarding a rescue pack, as doxycycline seems to be working well for you,you probably would not necessarily require to send in a sputum sample,as that defines the antibiotic suitable for you, your GP would let you know the best option for you... If the occasion does arrive again that you are starting to feel really breathless that is a warning sign, you just start your rescue pack right away, you do not wait until your breathing gets much worse, & as the days go on the rescue pack will be working on you,& again you will start feeling much better.. I find that whatever the situation health wise,I do not panic,I have trained myself to totally relax, & do you know what HerLadyship,? I find that by worryingπ€ & panicking it just makes our situation worse, & can create more problems,by taking the correct steps(e.g starting,on our rescue pack sooner rather than later) saves a lot of unnecessary stress for us.. I am from "Bonnie Scotland" HerLadyship, where the weather is absolutely dreadful, very cold & damp, & snow on the way, but so long as we keep well wrapped up & warm, we can just sit back, relax & countπ our many Blessings... Lovely to chat with you HerLadyship, take care, & look after yourself well, & all will be good & well with youπ...With much love,ππ€π & May God bless you always.. Primrose 123,xxx( Maria) ππ
( P.S.I forgot to mention HerLadyship, whenever you contact your GP ask him/her for an AeroBico , it helps tremendously to loosen phlegm..x
Thanks Primrose 123 ... I'll do that! Bonnie Scotland Indeed! How lovely! My daughter went to uni in Edinburgh so we've done a lot of touring around...loved it! I so appreciate all your help Primrose123 ... lovely chatting with you too. Take care and keep warm...chat soon
Pleased you're on road to recovery it is a slow process but it be worth it take care
how are you feeling today? I had a mad coughing bout this morning so did a steam inhalation and although painful got a lot of β gunkβ up
Last year the family all came down with colds and a nasty dry cough and I had a coughing fit at the bus stop but thankfully had water with me which helped!
Back when I was 9 we all had whooping cough and had gone to see Nana and Grandpa for February half term and Nana had worked as a healthcare worker before she retired and she had given us a steam inhalation in the bathroom which had helped us to feel better!
Our family doctor had visited us at home whilst we had whooping cough which wouldn't happen nowadays!
How's Pepparuby the black panther getting on and Hector and the other set of twins?
All well here re- kitties ππββ¬
Baby is great and sends her best wishes to the kitties!
That was a big loss to the family when Mollie died back in 2022!
I found 2022 horrendous myself especially when they played that nasty trick at the pharmacy when one minute I had a job and next I hadn't and when that happened it felt like the world had ended!
I walked past the pharmacy the other day and there weren't any faces that I recognised there which says a lot about them more than me!
The lady who started with me left the month after I did and they made her come in for an hour the day she left which was pathetic!
Today it's Christmas shopping in town along with my sister in law for a catch up and a chat!
Oh Baby must be close to 21 ?
Lovely time of year and great idea to shop early enjoy!
Yes Baby will be 21 in April!
Had lovely day out in the city centre today and went to the Christmas funfair which everyone enjoyed and planned to go out for a festive lunch in a couple of weeks time at one of the wetherspoon pubs in the city centre!
Tomorrow here it's self care saturday which I am looking forward to!
Oh sorry to hear about your coughing fit pepparuby1...glad you got gunk out....are you feeling a bit better for it?I don't seem to get my up .. but feeling a bit better....last day of the meds so we'll see how things go
Iβve finished doxycycline antibiotics yesterday ( 7 the day) today Iβm on steroid reduction of 5 instead of 6 for 3 days and Iβll keep reducing by 1 every 3 days - really helped me back in May Iβve been well until last week. I feel like Iβve more energy today which is great feeling although Iβm not going to go jumping and hoovering around lol - how are you? X
Hi pepparuby1 ...you just take it easy for a bit ... don't be tempted to do too much even if you're feeling a bit better. I was down with the doc this morning and there's still some infection....sooo a 7 day course of Doxycycline now ... thankfully the jitters seems to have gone ... so hopefully things improve more and I get to feel like a human being again!!!!
