Please help me!!!: My husband cough up... - Lung Conditions C...
Please help me!!!
Believe me, this could be one of many things. I know it's easy for me to say, but as I have copd and just suffered 2 chest infections and couldn't get enough breath to cough up my phlegm without choking myself. Do not panic like I have been doing. Call his doctors to be seen straight away as an emergency appointment just to put yours and his minds at rest. I have googled so many things in the past that literally it could be anything, don't just think the worst case scenario. I wish you the utmost best and please come back to this forum as joining here was the best thing I ever did. Good luck chook 😉
An excellent response from Mellywelly and absolutely spot on. Smokers, myself included at one time, had been warned for years how dangerous smoking could been but convinced themselves that was to others not them. It's looking like your husband has hit payback time. I'm sitting here at my computer in there early hours an English morning unable to sleep because of my COPD medications, but then I am 93. Self-help plays a very big part in dealing with COPD, he has a warning, he might not get another. Good luck to you both.
From personal experience there are several conditions which can cause lung bleeds, my instructions from my consultant are, coughing pink sputum keep an eye on it and in the UK speak to a GP, fresh blood less than an egg cup full call 111 and ask for advice, more than an egg cup full call 999. Don’t google it get proper advice otherwise you will only increase your concerns,
Hello,
Sorry to read that your husband is struggling and it could be caused by many things. I see you are in the US so I suggest that he speaks with his doctor about this issue. Let us know how he gets on won’t you ?
Go well,
Pauline
I understand your concerns, your husband needs an urgent appointment with the GP or go to A&E. On the one hand it could just be a burst blood vessel from coughing , but I would not wait as it may be more serious and need urgent treatment. The first time I coughed up blood was in 2008 and I am still around if that helps . I do have COPD / ASthma which requires daily inhalers. Best wishes for a quick turn round on this matter if only to relieve your concerns.
Hello
Just reiterating the excellent advice from our members, this could be a number of things so please seek medical advice as soon as possible for your husband. Coughing up blood is a red flag and should not be ignored.
