Dogs and illness

I didn't know at the time, but my dog continually sniffing my breath was warning me I was unwell, before I knew it, A few days later I was diagnosed with covid, so now when she starts sniffing my body I take notice,, she has been been sniffing my arm the last day or so where I had a cut on my wrist from banging into a door, it looked okay to me and as it was itching I thought It was getting better but on a closer look it was kind of red and puffy so I held a hot poultice on It for a while and the swelling has gone down a bit, so they do know when your unwell, so two wins for her. {The covid episode she would come up close and kept trying to smell my breath }

Well done to her. My grandaughter is type 1 diabetic and her little cat used to wake her up when she was going hypo.

Dogs and cats are amazing and often spot illness before you do. Get that cut checked out though if it doesn’t heal soon. Take care xxx

What a clever girl. I've always thought that dogs have a sense that we don't have (I mean like a sense of taste, smell etc) xxx

Funny you said this - my wee jack russell started sniffing my breath a lot, and I didn't know why. Turns out I have an infection and am in hospital for the first time since I was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis!!! Clever wee things xx

Hi 6538 ! What sort of dog have you got ? (seriously contemplating getting my own canine companion - they may as well be the type with a mighty fine nose to pick up infections).

I agree our little hack Russel cross several years ago kept trying to get under my sweater over and over again a few weeks later I was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer two ops and five was of radium and 3 yrs of bone cancer suppressing drips twice a year .she has never done this again u till she kept wanting to sniff my ear and try to lick.again I went to Dr. And would you believe I had a very rare and possible spreading type of cancer.of my ear.i had to be checked after removal every 12 weeks for three yrs. Again she has never done this since.so I agree my clever little and best pal dog.
