Copd Exacerbation.

I went to my local private hospital this morning where I was first diagnosed with copd nearly 10 years ago, I got to see the new chest specialist within 20 minutes. After a long talk I had a xray that she compared it to one that I had 6 years ago, and there was hardly any noticeable difference. She said that she couldn't really see any pneumonia in my lungs, but maybe there was a little bit, she heard whizzing and maybe a little mucus but said it wasn't serious.

They medication she gave was puroxan 400mg to take one pill after breakfast.

Also I was given a steroid injection for inflammation.

All the other meditations I already have but I was to increase the doses for the next two weeks then gradually cut down.

She seems to think that it was Gred that caused the problems and I have to be more focused on how I handle it in the future.

Her diagnosis was copd exacerbation.

No further appointment was made.

........

As I have mentioned earlier that I have an appointment tomorrow morning to see a lung specialist at a government hospital and I am really in two minds whether to keep it and see what the say, or just settle for what happened today.

Last night I couldn't sleep as breathing was almost impossible.

I can breath now but can hardly walk 10 steps without needing to sit down.

Thank you all for the wonderful replies and kind hearted wishes...๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿฅ‚

If youโ€™re seeing a lung specialist tomorrow Iโ€™d be inclined to keep that appointment. Hoping you improve very soon. Xxx

Thanks sassy, I do feel like I should keep it, we have to see a doctor again first then see the lung specialist. Yes I know it's a very strange way of doing things. The doctor I just saw this morning is also a lung specialist and I think she really knows what she is doing.

Thanks for your reply sassy ๐Ÿ™

I hope the Puroxan and the steroid are starting to kick in. Please let us know whether you decided to keep the lung specialist appointment and whether the drugs you've been given are doing any good.

I'm glad that you went but I don't think that you got much more out of that appointment. It always annoys me that so many medics rely on xray rather than the state of the patient themselves. I don't have copd and I don't know which drugs you usually have but I am inclined to think that if you have an exacerbation you will need more treatment than you have been given. You could even have one of the nasty chest viruses which are around.Like sassy I think that it would be a good idea to keep the appointment. I hope that they can make you feel better.

Yes we are going to the appointment tomorrow morning, the lung specialist I saw today was okay and seemed to know what she doing, but from experience doctors and specialist sometimes have different opinions.Having said that, I seem to be in far less pain when I breathe and when am resting, and it's only been 7 hours since I had the steroids.

You say the doctor said that she thinks you have Gred, did you mean GERD? If so do you have medication for this. I hope that the appointment goes well for you, please let us know how you get on x

I would say you need a CT scan. The consultant can tell a lot more from that than an X-ray.

The last time I had an exasperation of the lungs Nottobad123, they gave me five days of steroid tablets it soon cleared. I've had steroid injections for pain. To spite having pain in lungs and mid drift right now they just imply at the hospital to treat it yourself even though the radiotherapy seems to be the cause. . I'll get by but one often wonders what's the best to do. Keep well as can be.

I really amd feeling so much better and I think wi will even try to have a good walk around the garden tomorrow as the steroid even helped with the pain in my knees due to arthritis. I have everything arranged correctly with all my medications now and will keep with the my local private hospital where a I don't need an appointment to see the consultant.

So stress.
