I was at the hospital yesterday, I thought it was for a lung function test, but I completely misunderstood what the doctor said about the appointment for yesterday. It was just to see him again. I was really in a bad way with breathing and pain, one doctor said there wasn't enough air getting into my lungs.
I had another xray and spent some time on the nebulizer that didn't help at all.
After seeing two doctors who both confirmed that it was a type of pneumonia and my lungs had an infection. They made an appointment for me to see a lung specialist on Monday morning.
They did say if I have more difficulty in breathing I was to come back straight away.
This is turning out to be a very unpleasant experience and one that's having a detrimental effect physically and mentally.

Yes sassy, I feel your absolutely right, it's a Thai government hospital that I've just gone to for the first time, as I found everything so frustrating annoying and very stressful, but they are the only hospital within 50 kilometers of me that have the equipment to do a full lung function test. I've made sure that we have the phone number of our local hospital that is on our door step and their emergency service is very fast.
I think I will be ok until Monday morning and will see how the specialist deals with my situation. If it's not good, I know what to do.
This is the first infection in my lungs in ten years and it's a very horrible feeling..but I will get better.
I'm sorry you're so bad and that the hospital is not a good place to be. I hope you can last out till Monday, but get on the phone quickly if you really can't. Keeping fingers crossed for you. xxx
Tomorrow Sunday morning I will go to my private hospital that I've been using for many years and ask for xray, blood tests and mucus tests..I wasn't able to have a mucus test at the government hospital as my throat was very dry, but I sure I can do it tomorrow. It's a bit late to go now, I should have gone this morning.
With the caveat that I'm not a doctor it sounds as though ambulatory oxygen might help you at the moment, do mention it to the lung specialist. A friend in UK use it for a few months to get back to exercise levels then didn't need it. Good luck. P
I will do that, am also going to a good private hospital near me that I have use regularly over many years to have an xray and any other tests that will show exactly what's happening with my lungs and heart.
they should have put you straight on to IV antibiotics instead of waiting around for it to get worse. You need treatment before monday but I am worried that if you go back to that hospital you will get the same useless doctors who write pneumonia but have no idea how to treat it. Can you get yourself to a good private doctor or hospital who will at least get some antibiotics into you.
Yes there's two private hospital close to me that I have used regularly over many years. It's getting a bit late to go to hospital, but I can go in the morning for xrays and any other tests they may ask for.
I won't tell them anything about this diagnosis to see what they say.
Gosh. I hope you can keep going till Monday. I’d have thought they would have kept you in and put you on Intravenous antibiotics or at the least prescribe antibiotics. Wishing you the best x
Am going to my regular private hospital in the morning. I will have xrays, blood tests and mucus tests and any other tests they want. Also heart tests as there's a constant pain in that area.
Did you have any tests to see if you had any pleurisy? When I had pneumonia last, I also had pleurisy, and I was in hospital for 10 days, oral and intravenous AB's, and they drew off 3/4 litre of yellow infected fluid from my chest cavity. In fact everything that came out of me was bright yellow, pee and pooh. Because I was on Oromorph, I was bunged up for 5 days. When it came I didn't quite make it and it all came out at once. What a mess!
I will ask them about that, I read that pleurisy can them cause pneumonia, but I have no idea how everything works out. I should have gone to the the private hospital this morning for xrays and tests but I was completely drained after 7 hours in a very cold hospital with their air conditioning and then driving back home in the dark with heavy rain, my eye sight is not good night time.
Generally I thought Saturday night was my last night I would night and wasn't going see daybreak. Lucky I saw the doctor who knew exactly what to do...and walking around again, just have to see what all the extra medication can do to help to I can start to exercise regularly again as it's the best thing I can do for my lungs.
Yes I have 3 inhalers I have to take several times a day for the next 2 weeks and then cut cut back on them slowly.
Thank God I got the right treatment Sunday morning and am feeling so much better now, still got some way to go to improve myself with regular exercise, but am I will be working that very soon.
