I don’t know how other’s are with Asthma and hay fever this summer? I have had the worst summer in years my symptoms were unbearable at times and the tree pollen was affecting my asthma and I had a couple of sudden onset respiratory issues and I also have Bronchiectasis!! So not great and I was managed at home very well with GP support and I have a pulse Oximeter to check my saturation oxygen levels which is very helpful. I’m sure I’m not the only one that has problems. I’d like to hear more from other asthma sufferers.

Funnily enough my hay fever has been pretty minimal this year. Perhaps it depends where you live. Here in Essex mine was worse last month when the combines were out gathering the harvest. They make a lot of dust.
sorry to hear youve had a bad time this summer. Its great that you have good GP support, which is a big worry these days. Ive had asthma for many years, wet weather triggers mine off so its not pollen so much thats a problem for me but rain and mugginess, which we have had a lot of in the last year. Im in Yorkshire. Hope you get to feel better as there wont be so much pollen around soon? all the best Sally😄
I am just coming out of a two week exacerbation. Lots of time in my red zone, with difficulty doing anything. All inhalers at maximum dosage and prednisone. Quite scary at times.
So not good, for me it was high humidity that pushed me over, and probably a too relaxed response from me initially.
May, June and July were though generally good, just short attacks, a couple of days max, controllable by my trusty fostair 100 mart.
When children have left school, I will travel more to avoid the worst of the humidity and tree pollen where I am. Scottish Highlands are often the opposite of the conditions of Southern England.
Hi Imogen, I do sympathise, last year was a terrible year for me. I had infections, asthma and sinusitis every four weeks. Come December I asked to be referred to my Bronchiectasis Consultant and I have had so many tests since then, I am still waiting to see him for the results. This year I have been so much better, only one infection and that was over in two weeks. Allergies are the bane of my life, they affect everything. What does your doctor say, have they suggested anything? My Consultant asked when I was last checked for allergies, it was ten years ago so maybe if the tests I have already have show nothing, he will probably have me tested again. Let us know how you get on and do keep in touch with your GP, don't suffer in silence. Take care, Maximonkey
I think it's been a bad year and my eyes have suffered more thsn usual too.i take 2 different antihistamines mar- oct, then reduce to 1 over winter.i also use air pirifiers in living room× bedroom. Allergies also made rhinosinusitis worse ths summer too.i use asteroid nose spray and find sterimar sinus + nasal spray helpful
Sorry to hear you have suffered with these issues my daughter has asthma and hayfever she has not being good either and she was extremely tired all the time she said she was struggling at work it's eased abit now
Good morning to you, I have had asthma since I was a forthnight old I was a blue baby and I am now in my late 70s, when the winter arrives I always wear a scarf around my nose and mouth to stop the cold air getting onto my lungs, I also have Bronchitectis, sleep apnoea,Degenerative Lumbar spondylosis stenosis/osteoarthritis,cerebral vascular disease.I have stopped using spray perfums and other aerosols which makes my asthma worse. I do as much exercise as my old body allows. Since being on Carbocistene that has helped me a lot am on 6 tablets of this medicine and now my phlegm does not stay on my lungs and I find it much easier to breath. You just get to know what your body expects of you, if you go over the top with too much exercise then your body is going to react and you will exacerbate your asthma worse, which I have found out. Just do what you feel you can do.October to March are my worst months of bronchitus/asthma and do not go into any crowded places, if I do then I wear a mask as if someone has a cold I end up with a good three month stint of it and usually land in hospital with pneumnia whereas the person who sneezed most likely had the cold for a couple of days. I also do not have the flu jab as each time i had this I landed up in hospital and was informed not to have it as it was making me really ill, so I do not have the flu jab and have not been in hospital now for over two years since I no longer have any jabs. I was advised not to have the covid jab by the hospital, again I wake up each morning full of thanks and hope to stay around awhile longer. I also hope that everyone here will be feeling a lot brighter as life is for living.
