Whooping cough

Hello. I have been struggling to recover from whooping cough which I've had since May. I am still bringing up phlegm. Sorry to be disgusting. My throat also feels like there is broken glass at the back of it. Has anyone else had problems this long after first symptoms?

Wow that doesn't sound good at all Clare! I hope you have been to the doctors?I have a very persistent chesty cough for 5 weeks and sinus infection! Sinus infection has calmed down a bit now !

But since Tuesday got a sore throat 👌

But went to doctors on Monday, he prescribed antibiotics for me and ordered an chest x-ray as well!

My throat doesn't feel like yours 👌 But I couldn't leave a sore throat like this for too long! Please go back to the doctor's asap Clare 👍🥰

How on earth did you end up with whooping cough ? That's terrible Clare 👍 🥴

But in the meanwhile you could try half a teaspoon of sea salt in cooled boiled lukewarm water and gargle with this a few times per day!

Also Camomile with Honey could soothe your throat as well if you could drink this or if you don't like drinking herbal teas, gargle with it when cooled down! Because of my heart I can't take ibuprofen, but paracetamol I take! You can also gargle with soluble paracetamol which then would be straight soothing your throat Clare! But if you are still unwell in a week's time definitely go back to doctors Okay, don't let this fester 👌👍🥰

Just remembered, was told to do hot steam inhalation as well for my chesty cough! I have a sauce with a hole in it's glass lid, I boiled the kettle and then put it in the sauce pan to boil on my cooker! The steam has really helped me as well 👌

But the doctor said he can hear crackling in my left bottom half of my lung, that's why antibiotics and chest x-ray Clare! Feel so tired with this as waking up half way through the night and on and off more often! Felt shattered yesterday morning as had a bad night again 🥴🥰

Hi. Whooping cough is bad and I’m sure you’ll be feeling better soon. It’s classed as 100 day cough now. I had some grandchildren who were really poorly for at least the 100 days. Bringing up phlegm. Coughing violently However it did start to subside eventually. If you’re worried contact your gp as you may have another infection too. I had my whooping cough with measles as a five year old! Take care 🤗x
