I’m stuck inside because of methotrexate!

I’m stuck inside because I’m 92 and knackered!

I’m 68 and knackered - my joints are playing the game, and the heat makes breathing difficult!

I just have heartburn from the current meds but my balcony does get fiercely hot in weather like this.

Oh no, is there somewhere on the front out of the sun, its comes to something trying to keep out of the sun instead of chasing it lol x

I live on a main road so probably not a good idea!

No a main road is not somewhere you want to sit if you have health problems x

I've been stuck inside for 10months can't leave house as my oxygen cylinders too heavy to carry Also even on oxygen am struggling to breathe. Contacting my oxygen nurse at 8.30am hoping she will call and give me some hope xx.Sheila 😪

Hi Garshe,I understand how you feel with these bulky large cylinders.I was prescribed a small one as I’m only 5’ tall.but still it’s to heavy.I have seen small compact ones used mainly in America.I think they are powered by batteries. Why are our choices so limited here?I feel like we are being penalised for having a lung disease.Hope you manage a little bit of this sunshine .Winter is just around the corner 😡

The small one I have I took with me to dentist. It only lasted 1hr 45 mins on 3L. It took 30 mins to get there. Then park. I was sitting in waiting room 30 mins as they were running late. I went in to see dentist that took 20mins . So didn't have enough oxygen to get home..had to phone 999 abd an ambulance took me home on their oxygen. What sn ordeal .of I need to go further afield have to take more cylinders. Not worth the hassle xx.Sheila

Hi Garshe, I'm so sorry you're still struggling with your oxygen and it's stopping you getting out and about. I was the same when I first went onto oxygen. If you're driving, could you use your big tanks then swap to your smaller one when you go out and about?

garshe profile image
garshe in reply toMoosterMoo

I don't drive anymore, hubby chauffeurs me .the small tanks don't hold enough oxygen unfortunately xx

MoosterMoo profile image
MoosterMoo in reply togarshe

I understand. I have a small one that lasts about an hour. What I mean is, use the big ones in the car while you're not driving and the little one when you go onto the dentist. The big ones are really heavy. I have a trolly type bag and even that can be hard work in this heat.

I asked about the small ones but some are pulse operated and if lie me you have heart problems as well there is not enough pressure to keep me going. xx

No I don't have a heart problem it's just they don't last long enough xx.Sheila

It's not about burning Doxycycline can cause brown patches on skin later. My friend is a mess .like Michael Jackson only she's white x

Oh dear. How ever I did go to the Caribbean whilst taking doxycycline. I used factor 50 and was okay. I remember taking it on hot days here but stayed inside then x

Hope the sunny weather lasts till you're off the Doxy. In theory I' d like to get outside at 8 o'clock before the sun gets too fierce. it's a good theory. Trust the Doxy will do what it says on the tin. xxx

I finished the course yesterday but the sun has gone today. Hot and cloudy now in the Lake District. x

I use factor 60 face cream and factor 50 sunblock , in the midday sun I put the umbrella up and sit in the shade . But I can’t breathe when it’s really hot so go inside 🥵

I'm stuck inside with all the blinds and curtain shut because I can't deal with the sun or heat. Not only because of my breathing but have swollen legs and feet too 🙄. But feel for you if you would like to out there and can't 🙁xxx

Doxy course is now finished but the heat is so overpowering I sit out early morning and late evening. I hope you are eeping your legs elevated.

Nula2 profile image
Nula2 in reply toTykelady

Yes I am and sleep sitting up because of my breathing and feet and lower legs on pillow. Waiting for results of tests to see what leg problem is. 😊xxx

The district nurse came to dress a cut on my leg earlier today and he seemed to be under the impression that I qualify for a n NHS bed. I manage but perhaps it might be worth you looking into. x

Hi, thank you good idea. Will wait to see what all the tests come back with (hoping for a miracle and legs/feet will go back to normal) 😅 xxx
