I have just been told by my GP that everyone taking Fostair will be transferred to Luforbec. In several reviews I have read people have said it is not as good as Fostair.
Any comments would be much appreciated.

Someone tell me is this another economy measure?
I wonder if that is all the patients at your practice, as it could be a cost cutting exercise or a saving the planet exercise. I was changed from Fostair to Fobumix by a pharmacist i had never met with no consultation. Fobumix is a powder based med, and the explanation was they are trying to get us all off gas inhalers to save the planet! Gave it a try for a couple of months but managed to get back onto Fostair, when i reported back that my peak flows were down. So all we can do is to try these things and if it doesnt work as well, tell them. If you have measures to quote, like peak flow, that will help you make your case. Best of luck Jackwok.😀
I have just been diagnosed with overlap asthma and the consultant put me on Fostair nexthaler and I felt so much better on this no more tight chest wheezing etc but it gave me a cough so I asked if I could go onto the same inhaler but not powdered. They gave me Luforbec and I went straight back to having all my problems, wheezing tight chest. I asked why I didn't get Fostair and was told it is exactly the same but cheaper. I didn't feel that it was so asked to go back onto the nexthaler and I will put up with the cough. It may work well for others. It did nothing for me sadly but I do hope it works for you x
After years of well controlled asthma on fostair I along with others from my surgery was changed to luforbec. Within a short time I was coughing constantly and on speaking with the respiratory nurse she told me that several other patients had the same experience. I was put back on fostair and a note put on my record that I was not to be changed again. It is a cost cutting exercise.
Just been had the same thing done recently. Had a stay in hospital due to a bout of pneumonia which has caused damage to one of my lungs. During the whole of my time I was using my previously prescribed Fostair Nexthaler but I was supplied with Luforbec inhalers when discharged. Just started using them so probably too early to say good or bad but keeping an eye on the other responses here.
I was swapped from fostair to spiolto respimat. AndTiotropium capsules. Some days are good some bad.
I hope you find the right solution soon x
Do you feel the Spiolto is not as good for you as the Fostair?
I find it better. I compared the two. Having said that it is harsh on my throat so I'm going back on fostair. Ships I'm confused. I don't know why it was stopped in the first place. The fostair worked fine. Next thing a new inhaler turned up that is a pain in the buttocks to put together.Being very weak all over my hands can't do it. I have to ask my carer🙄🙄🙄.
Good luck deciding. Hun Dawn 🤗
So you felt the Spiolto was better but it bothered your throat? It is what I am using and yes it is hard to put together as you say. I thought if Fostair was better I may give it a try but if Spiolto is better I’ll just keep using it. Thankfully it doesn’t bother my throat.
Thank you
Hi, well my Doctors attempted to transfer me onto Lubfrec, but I kindly explained that Fostair 100/6 had been a game changer for me and explained that you shouldn't be messing with my health so you can save some money and im still on Fostair, I will add I wouldn't have stopped until they agreed with me that I was staying on Fostair, I hope this helps
Thanks DannyQ that will be my approach. I have spoken to a member of the Community Respiratory team and she said there is nothing to prevent me staying with Fostair.
It is cheaper than Forstair. My consultant disagreed with the changeover, he thinks it causes coughing as it powdery. Sometimes my chemists gives me Luforbec or another generic inhaler and I have to tell them My consultant favours Forstair.
