A friend of mine over the pond in the good ol' U.S of A, suffers with aspergilliosis, bronchiectasis and COPD.
She's recently started attending Pulmonary Rehabilitation and they've advised her to start using this little gadget called The Breather, to help with her lung exercises. She swears blind to me that it's helped her no end, more than she ever expected and she was kind enough to get hold of a second one and send it over to me.
It's an interesting little device, but I've only used it for a couple days, not enough to feel the benefits yet that she was telling me she feels. My friend, bless her, is an eternal optimist, and she would see the good in the devil if she met him.
So I was wondering though. I've never seen this over here. Is it something offered by U.K pulmonary rehab classes? Has anyone else used one and felt any benefits from it? Does it really help with exercising the lungs any more than, say, just getting out for a walk?

Never heard of it, but wonder if it is something like the flutter? Although the flutter is to help bring up mucus which, of course, helps. Hope it helps you anyway.
Never seen one of those Symes, but it will be interesting to hear from others. Thanks for posting the photograph.
Amazon sell that. I have something like that a 3 ball lung exerciser witch I bought from Amazon they have a few different things. With the thing I have you breath in and try to lift the balls as high as you can.
Symes I'm in my third week with PR were having a someone coming on the ,6thof October how to help and control your mucas will let everyone know what she says and if she has anything like your showing us happy breathing .
Yes me too.....i bought one after watching a program where a woman was given it in hospital to strengthen her lungs but i havnt really used it enough to test it properly
I use one something like this one. it helps me. my lung Dr. tells me to use it often during the day to improve my lung functions. I have COPD and in April 2016 had a portion of my right lung removed due to cancer. My left lung is damaged due to smoking for 50 years. My saturation drops to 80 when I exert like walking 25 feet. I have to stop and breath in and blow out
to raise to 93. Sitting in chair it's 95. I have to sleep in a recliner due to a broken bone in my lower back. I will try to get a picture of my breather and post it if someone will advise me how to post a picture. I am learning so much from all of you. Thank you all.
