Heart scan

Off to hospital for heart scan today . Last week my bedroom ceiling fell down . now camping out down stairs on settee cushions . Cannot start repairs until next week. Give you full story later.

Poor you. I hope you have managed to avoid most of the dust which is inevitable when a ceiling falls down and that you get some kind, considerate, understanding workmen. My childhood was punctuated by falling ceilings. We lived in London and a doodlebug fell close to our house. One by one the ceilings fell, the landing ceiling making a spectacular avalanche on the stairs and the living room ceiling descending on my brother's birthday tea. My mum coped admirably. Best wishes. I hope the heart scan shows nothing to be worried about. xxx

🤣. We had no fear and made our own entertainment. So long as I was home before dark nobody worried where I was. Think mum knew I'd be home for dinner - no crisps in the cupboard then to snack on! 😅xx

The house was built in 1900. The ceilings were not modern plasterboard ones, but made very uncomfortably, I'd guess, by a plasterer.

hoping the heart scan goes ok. Hopefully you can get your ceiling fixed soon. Last week I was in the little outbuilding where I keep my sheep’s food and the ceiling fell in on my head. Luckily I was wearing a big bobble hat and the ceiling was very soggy so it didn’t hurt me.

Thank you dear Carole for your concern. I am fine, once I got past the initial shock. Luckily I was wearing a bobble hat with a huge pompon and the ceiling was so soggy after the endless rain and snow leaking through the roof that the ceiling was really soft. I hope you and Pete are doing as well as can be 🤗 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑

All you neem in winter is the ceiling to fall down.. hope you end up OK on both counts.

Oh goodness, the dust! Not what anyone needs at all. I can sympathise because I live in a 200 yr old house & bits are often falling off but mostly on the outside - render on chimney stack last January and render cracking this year letting rain seep through my bedroom wall. Ceiling down is something else, I hope it's sorted soon 🙏, also that heart scan turns out okay and that you have plenty of masks for protection against the dust. P ×

Last reply should of course read "But stick with the essential (your health of course) ..." Proper dust masks against the ceiling dust as Peege rightly says. Anywhere you can stay and be looked after while it's being repaired? Just a thought. I had some helpful advice on here a few years ago about avoiding dust with a ceiling repair. Will post if I can find it. Please do look after yourself. xxx

Oh my goodness....how frightening. Not very comfortable sleeping on a settee when we're used to our own bed! Hopefully you'll get it sorted out soon . Fingers crossed 🤞 for your scan
