I have had bronchiectasis from 3 years old due to whooping cough. I am now 74. I have also had Rheumatoid Arthritis for 14 years.
Rheumatoid Arthritis is getting worse ( 2 emergency hospital admissions in the last 6 months) Consultant advises changing to biological medication but it is dependant on my lung condition as to which one is suitable.
I have had 4 chest infections in the last 9 months and due to have further tests at Papworth Hospital.
Not sure now if biological medication is too much of a risk given the condition of my lungs at the moment or even in the future. Has anyone else got experience of Biologic medication and Bronchiectasis?

I can`t answer your question, but wonder wheather you take Azithromycin for the Bronchiectasis? If not, ask your consultant about this. Have a good day, Chris.
I have had rituximab in the past. I believe this was originally used for rheumatoid arthritis. I had so many chest infections it led, together with my autoimmune disease, to Bronchiectasis. It did work on my autoimmune disease though. It’s a conversation you need to have with your respiratory doctor as well as the rheumatologist. I’m sure they will weigh up the risks to your lungs. Good luck.
I have bronchiectasis, for several years now. I will be ninety in a couple of weeks time. Can’t do much, easily outf breath but my daughter in law and son help me too continue living alone. The only medication I have is A fizzy drink which shifts any phlegm on the lungs. Life is not easy but I count my blessings. Iris
