Just yesterday, and I have been having a few bad days , cause the littlest things I do at home is becoming a problem, and am not happy, thinking out of the box , I have started a Gofundme request, so as I can go private, to speed things up. I would like to hear , what u all think of this . Am scared, if I wait as suggested by consultants, and from what I read , there is a fine line , that am so much have bad lungs 🫁, it is too late to have the surgery . Thanks everyone

Hello Trevor6, I appreciate the go fund idea to go private , however that does not solve the long waits for NHS treatment. I hope you can go private to get the treatment quicker to relieve your suffering , however I believe the NHS are refusing after care if you go private or so I heard. A bit of news shared with me this week apparently the NHS is quicker for cataract ops but maybe that's because its day surgery.
Hi, if they are refusing aftercare if you have the op privately then I think that is a big kick in the teeth. At the end of the day it will help them aswell if you have it elsewhere. If you take yourself off their list and go private, it bumps somebody else up the list. So frustrating 😉
Thats right Mellywelly and so frustrating. I have a problem with my cataracts , the NHS agreed to do them but I had other health problems at the time so was not put on the list but told I could come back any time in the next two years which would be upto january 2025, but to spite a request to my Gp there as been no response . Does anyone know what the procedure is in these cases please? I am thinking of asking PALS. My opticians will not test my eyes they have taken me off the eye test list as I have been referred to the hospital eye department. Thank you for your reply.
Have you been to Specsavers Katie? I had mine done by them - 2 weeks after referral. It’s private, but funded by the NHS so I paid nothing. Second cataract was after a month - people I know it was 3 months after first surgery.
