I too was thinking that. I know he doesn't like Christmas, but ........

Are you ok Don? xx

I’m struggling to keep my chest clear and Smudge is struggling to keep to her diet. Other than that we are okay thanks.

Happy New Year to everyone. Don & Smudge xx

Great to hear that you are ok Don 😊

I am having the same issue with my chest, as I did a rib a few days before Christmas which makes deep breathing a little sore! Ended up with an infection and back on oxygen for 24 hours, antibiotics have done their job, all good now! Is your struggle the ongoing battle or are you having a particular problem?

I’m sure Smudge has made a NY resolution to stick to her diet (with help from you!)

Happy new year Don, wishing you and Smudge happiness and as much health as possible for 2024.

With love, Laurie xx

I’m hoping that my chest problem is just a little local difficulty which with my vast experience I will quickly overcome. The trouble is my worn out body was never designed to last this long. 🙄xx Get well soon Laurie. ❤️xx

I hope so too Don, it is tiring and tiresome! I’m sure experience counts for a lot! My father at 86 cannot understand why he is not as spritely as he was!

Thank you Don, I am well on the way to being normal (well as normal as I get!!).

Take care of yourselves xx

Thinking of you both. Lets hope we have a mild Winter. Cats and a diet do not go together that well. They are very stubborn and sometimes cheeky. Our old Puss liked to use his paw to try and sneak a piece of chicken off a plate. No shame would sit looking up and then onto the stool and out came the paw very slowly. He was a large white cat just like Arthur the TV cat. Take care. xx

I’ve had very little experience with cats. In fact Puss my last one was my first, a slim black cat who only ate what she needed. Smudge on the other hand will eat whatever she can lay her paws on until she explodes I’m sure. I could wake up with an arm or leg missing trying to make her stick to a diet.

Fat Smudge.

It does sound as if Puss was an ideal feline regards her table manners. On the whole many appear to be on the "eat until I explode side". My cats were rescue and had been abandoned so may have been a factor in how they feasted.

Smudge does indeed sport "the greedy cat" type of model from her photo. . No less lovable just a bit more challenging for us mere mortals.

She has plenty of toys for a workout. My best success regards exercise was with the type you mentioned before. On the rod with something on the end. Easier for us from an arm chair etc. Plus the light moving on carpet type.

Happy New Year to you both . Take care.

Well she holding on to them a long time if she is! I don’t think she was this big when I got her. Perhaps I’ve been a bit over generous? I’ve cut back on the treats and am playing more actively with her. She’s a very fluffy cat and has never left the house since I’ve had her.

Good to see you Don and Smudge. That's obviously one pampered puss with all those toys. Heres a new year's kiss from one of my sheep. It's the first bright day today for weeks. Bad weather resumes later so I'd better not get used to this lack of wind and rain 🙄

I have no idea why that photo went sideways. It was not sideways before I added it. Weird...

Good to see you HH, I hope you are wrong about the weather and it stays like that for a while longer. What a lovely friendly looking sleep. 😍x Do they have a new house to protect them?

HH's friend.

Wow, thank you for fixing the photo. Thankfully my sheep do have a sturdy new house. The lull in the weather didn’t last long and over night the wind and rain started again, it’s already over 50mph. For most of the past ten days though, the wind was over 80mph and on 3 days almost 90mph, which is much too scary. The sheep were glad of a temporary respite from the weather yesterday. So was I! ☀️🐑🐑🐑🐏🐑

you k live in a very windy part of the uk . only been there in summer but that gave us a proper hurricane one summer---- we were sailing and took refuge in harbour- but even two anchors there wouldn't hold . ---------just a taster

What an experience for you! It is relentlessly windy. Yesterday there was a powercut caused by the wind. Thankfully engineers were able to get here and the electricity came back on in the evening.

Glad you are fine except for your chest Donald - Out Tom cat is like your cat, rotund with eating everything he can find. We have to stand guard over the other cat eating sometimes, he would go and join in with her. Keep Warm Donald.

Hope you soon begin to feel better Don. Some nasty bugs doing the rounds. Good luck getting Smudge to keep to a diet. At least she can't just help herself xx

Thanks Carole, I'm already feeling much better. I thought that I had got a grip on this up and down coaster-like life we are forced to live, even to advising others how to deal with it. Yet this one caught me with my pants down as they say. I wasn't even following my own advice! 😨Smudge played a big part in dragging me back to some sort of routine, I bet she's sorry now since it's severely curtailed her treat supply.

I am looking at the photo of smudge I’m guessing from her eyes that she is wondering what are you talking about I’m not fat just a little on the round size ! Stay well Don

hi Don, wish you could see food Morrison declines, he has become very fussy,,and birds eat what he’s refused, better than putting in bin. Keep warm, best wishes, Jean x
