πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œYes I will crawl on the forest floor in certain seasons ... Autumn is one of them ... Winter Spring and Summer are the others πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Great shot Bb! I’m alright with the getting down, it’s the getting back up again that’s a challenge πŸ˜‚

Your photos are fabulous Blackbird and I really appreciate that you'll crawl around on the forest floor to get those perfect shots. Getting up would be a problem for me, so there's no way I'd get down that far in the first place! πŸ˜‚ Enjoy your scrambling and keep on posting. 😊

I prefer toadstools which can be photographed standing up. Fly Agaric for instance.πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

fungi -----your photos are great . keep posting

but i h ave missed them this autumn as can't go traipsing round the woods any more , could crawl once i got there . I suppose but I cant take photos like yours.

but what have you learned about them ?. they are interesting and a source of many things we need as the human race. Antibiotics for instance. So there are always people who will take you round and show you all the other fungi that you missed ! so many and some ar really good to eat ---- but can be dodgy. A t our local forest in cheshire the rangers set up I D classes after ONE walk with microsope too i believe . I mad e myself ill when i did that after one such day out and was off work next day ! knew enough to avoid the poisonous ones so lived to tell the tale but i do eat shaggy ink caps . have a friend did same but ate smooth ink caps and enjoyed them until she found the one thing they are noted for . they react with alcohol and as the toxin is stored in the liver you get more reactions every time you drink alcohol. she was not best plea sed.

there are plenty of books available. I have one very good one by Roger Phillips

Place a cap flat on clean paper and leave undisturbed overnight . cover it with glass or something similiar and next day you will see a pattern of spores deposited by the fungus gills but you need a microscope to see the single spore and i dont have that but there l are other things used to ID as well

try it next year,. the cold spell closed them down here in NW

I've always enjoyed eating puffballs, picked before the spores set. They make great soups, boiled and liquidised, and are lovely peeled, sliced and fried in butter too.

Our back garden gets an array of mushrooms. Type depending on the season. Always have to go on the lookout for them before the grandkids arrive and play out in the garden. X
