This one squeaks and shrieks! I don't know if that's better or worse than yakking!! I'm yearning for the day it takes flight overseas - or, if you let me know the post code for your pond, I'll take up Bernadine's suggestion and buy him a sat nav and an aeroplane. Lol! xx Moy
Great poem, Moy, and you have my heart felt sympathy. But I’m a dedicated seaside man, have been all my years, the screeching of the seagulls is like music to my ears. 😘
Like you, I love wildlife. But seagulls........... they sound as though they're laughing at you as they are stealing your food and leaving an indescribable mess on your car!
Brilliant poem Moy, you perfectly summed up my feelings on them!! Thank you xx
I had one land on my car one day as I was sitting close by. I was eating whelks and threw it one! Oh whoops! I forgot I had A LOT of Tabasco on them! Needless to say, it came up as fast as it went down! It soon hurried off!!🦅🦅🦅🧨🤣🤣 xx
It's no fun trying to eat fish and chips along the seafront. You have to watch your ice creams too. They are b*****s! And they're so big! Their wing span is about 3ft (my best guess) and they're fatter than a good sized chicken. It's a shame they don't taste good. 🤣Xx Moy
You dont have to go to the seaside here, in Swansea city centre they are everywhere and swoop down on the kids outside McDonald's. Really dangerous .could have someone's eye out. xxSheila 👍🕊
Great poem Moy😀 You’re obviously making your seagull friend feel too much at home. He doesn’t want to leave you😂 I’ll send my little Wildcat round, she’ll sort him for you. She may be small but she packs a punch😹
There's one by us returns time after time and the noise she makes you would think she swallowed one of the dogs squeaky toys. You have to hear it to believe it 🤣🤣🤣
Think kindly of seagulls, folks. Herring gulls, the big nasty ones, are on the red list of endangered species. Stupid or kindly people who feed them have encouraged their antisocial behaviour. We met a nice one on holiday in Llandudno who perched quietly outside our window waiting for food, which never came. He even had a butterfly friend which came to feast on bird droppings (ugh!). He let it wander around under his feet and never tried to peck it.
Love you poem Moy. Hope the noisy one clears off soon. xxx
Unfortunately, we have people nearby who encourage them with food. Why would they go out to sea to find fish when they can stay safe inland and have a variety of food? With luck this one will eventually realise we're not going to feed him and clear off!Xx Moy
Love the poem Moy 😊. I don't mind the seagulls noise (I wear hearing aids and they aren't good for distance noise) BUT they nest on the roof every year and upstairs won't put anything on to stop them. They sit on the chimney which makes me think I've probably got years worth of seagull dropping behind my fireplace. 😱xxx
They used to nest in the chimney of the bungalow across the road. When they had young in the nest, the adults would dive bomb the next door neighbours and passers by. They are a real nuisance when they come inland.Xx Moy
What is the penalty for killing a seagull UK?It says that "if any person intentionally kills, injures or takes any wild bird, he shall be guilty of an offence". A similar law covers Scotland and Northern Ireland. If convicted of cruelty against a seagull, an offender could be fined up to £5,000 and potentially jailed for up to six months.2 Sept 2015
Lol. A friend was eating a burger in a bun on the seafront. Had one bite then the seagull swooped and took the whole thing. The expression on friend's face was a picture.
