I’m going through radiotherapy because of endometrial cancer. I’ve had a full hysterectomy and then booked in for 5 weeks RT in the pelvic area to be followed by two internal treatments. A doctor will talk you through it and the radiographers are brilliant. It won’t hurt but you may feel tired and have sore skin perhaps.
I’m only tired I feel because of the journey to QA in Cosham, Portsmouth. My worst problem is stomach upsets but it’s not as bad as it was.
Everyone is different and I just know you’ll be ok. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and good luck to you. Stay positive. Thinking of you. Xxx
I'm really sorry to hear about the oesophagus cancer thamesbob, I dont know much about it but I do understand fatigue as I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. On a daily basis I have to try to eat healthily, not push myself (although that's very difficult at times) , rest when I need to, get a decent night's sleep and above all pace myself. If I over use my pocket of energy in a day I may have to rest for 3 days. A weekend with grandchildren and I'm sofa and housebound for a week or more. It's very essential to look after yourself. All the best with the RT.
Good luck. I had radiotherapy for breast cancer in 2008. Was only tired as I was traveling to the Christie every morning for 3 weeks. The skin may get red and my oncologist told me to use baby soap and prescribed £45. I was on a rads trial as well so needed to be positioned 110%. That was the most tiring thing, being put in the correct position, one day they were having problems, so the radiographer told everyone to take 5 and me to get up and have a walk around the room!
Morning thamesbob.
I agree with sassy59 and Digger0. Had radiotherapy a few years ago for three weeks. I sailed through the first week but found myself getting quite tired towards the end of the course. I thought it was a combination of the treatment, travelling and stress. It only took a week or so post course to fully recover energy levels. My skin was a little sore in the treatment area but certainly no worse than a mild sunburn.
Your oncology team should explain everything you need to know and answer any questions you may have.
Very best of luck.
wishing you the best of luck. Hopefully the comments above will have helped. Xx
Best wishes. Hope all goes well.
All the best thamesbob x
