We are edging towards the end of summer, in fact - Saturday, 23 September 2023 is the day summer ends.
Some will have noticed the dust all the way from the Sahara falling on our cars.
Well Autumn is the most annoying season if you live in a village -leaves everywhere near trees, of which we have lots in our lane and they make a mess that lasts for what seems months.
But with autumn come a chance to paint the rich color of Autumn .Reds,Yellows and browns.
Halloween happens in Autumn and the time to create spooks in unearthly places where no-one wants to go at night. October the month of the spooks.
This is a preview of autumn season - A small painting with lots of color, being small a tad cartoon like. One of my favourite smaller paintings,

They are we have trees directly across from our homes - The leaves go between the cars in a thick layer was ages before that went, It's nice where we live, but the leaves,
There are huge trees across the road from my house. A few leaves have started falling already. Iβm stopping at my daughterβs house while recover from a long hospital stay, but I know the fallen leaves will be there to welcome me home when I eventually go home!
The main trees across from us are lots of Horse Chestnut and Sycamore - There are lots of them - no fall yet but when it comes though, will be a right mess.
Thank you Carole - Autumn is is inspiring with Halloween possibly more so, small painting are done as light is fading my spotlight is OK but smaller canvasses gives different different ideas. I look forward to showing the spooky ones, they are fun to paint and lots of licence,
Anne celebrates her birthday 14th October. Hope you treatment is going well Carol.
Best wished to Pete on the 11th October - Side effects can be a problem - Reading it is normal for radiotherapy to cause tummy problems according to Cancer research - Your treatment will soon be ended.
Thank you Sheila . I am happy painting and hardly likely to stop, I really can't imagine a day I would not pick up a brush and paint. Nice comment - Thank you.
Autumn looks pleasant in your picture. I have mixed feelings about it. Love the colours, but hate the gathering gloom. If only the weather would stay like it is in your picture. xxx
I agree over autumn, the color is there and summer gone - i don't like Gloomy conditions either, I can try and lift spirits with bright weather or subjects in my paintings, x
Hi Ern, thank you for sharing this. The lane with the solitary house looks so much like one of the many little country roads I used to walk along. Brings back lovely memories of long walks with my dogs and friends and their dogs.πΆββοΈπΆββοΈππTake care xxx
Thank you Nula2 - Glad to have brought back "lovely memories of long walks" - I like these smaller paintings. I have two a Silhouette city scape and an autumn scene with a bridge. I have them on the bedroom wall where I sleep. I like bright.
Well I live very close to the Pendle Hill - The witch trial was in 1612 and 10 people in The Pendle Hill area were charged with murders due to witchcraft . we have a very spooky history in Lancashire,π―οΈ
I`ll give her her due though, She worked hard at reining me in doing the windows of HINDSIGHT doesn't sit well with me. but 51 year is too long to have any regrets. π BUT,,, Don`t tell her that. π
Itβs good to have some fun and I like the simplicity of this one. Sheila is spot on with her Hockney referenceπ
Leaves can certainly get messy in the autumn for sure. There are some big oaks across the road from where I live and there are a lot of leaves and acorns too, that the squirrels and Jays miss. I donβt begrudge their messiness though, as they are beautiful trees and walking in their cool shade provides very welcome relief from the heat of the sun.
Looking forward to seeing some of your spooky canvases π x
Painting is fun and should be fun. Well flattering to be compared with Hockney he is an impressionist and a good one to he is also prolific. One thing in common was inspired by Van Gogh.π
The leaves are a problem but where I live cars are parked fully in our part of the lane - There are trees across massive massive Sycamore and Horse Chestnuts - The leaves settle at thickness between the cars and so hard to shift, they get pact solid - It was spring before we was clear, Would I move the trees? No was brought up in a leafy part of town, fields upon fields until lots got built on.
I am working on a spooky canvas at the moment - My favorite I painted last year It's a green(ish) backgroud - Oh you will see it soon enough x
