Yay we had great fun, the site was fine about me plugging into the mains for the oxygen compressor machine. It was great to roll out of bed and the kettle was 3 steps away haha.
I took my scooter, with my oxygen tanks, and went off road to get into the little town. Managed not to fall of. Hubby laughed and said I look like I'm on my motorbike turning corners, leaning over π.
We've now booked on a little site at Mundsley, by the seaside. Still only 45mins from home so my anxiety shouldn't rear it's ugly head.

Hi Zand. Glad that you had a good holiday and are planning another. Did you take your compressor with you or was one provided to be in place for your arrival? I am relatively new to oxygen use via a compressor and had thought my holidays may be a thing of the past. I don't travel light and to have to take that too would cause problems. I have a mobility scooter and that already fills the boot of the car. Heaven know where all the rest of my stuff would go!
BOC have lent me a smaller compressor that only goes to 5 so that did me for sitting around the caravan doing my crocheting and chatting to everyone that passedπ. They delivered it to our house before we left and I took my 8 oxygen tanks with me. Set at 6-8 while walking from the scooter into the shops. Squished everything into the car, dog included. Scooter went in the caravan. I travel light π€£
That's what I need Irene, a friend with a brain! Realistically I use so much equipment daily now I'm not sure that we will manage a holiday now. Can have some nice days out with the scooter though and walk with my rollator on good days,
Just jumping in re holidays at home. When my daughter was a toddler and money was tight we had an 'at home' holiday. We vowed not to do any housework bar beds and tidying, just as if we'd been in an apartment, and minimal, quick, easy meals. We went to our local tourist information board and got loads of leaflets. We had a whale of a time exploring our local area and giving each other our undivided attention.
That sounds ideal Karen, we always had camping holidays when the kids where little. I would have loved an at home holiday exploring the area. Lesley xx
This sounds like you had plenty of fun, great news and the weather has been lovely too , doesn't it help to lift your mood and make you feel alive again. Once I am back on my feet i fully intend to be trotting of for a few weeks of the year x
Yes it certainly does lift your mood and to be amongst friendly people that stop and chat, to your face! I love that i've found this site and all the helpful advice everyone gives but there's nothing like a face to face chat and holiday caravan sites, the small ones, give that to me. That and the fact I'm a chatterbox anyway π doctors and nurses are always telling me to please stop speaking while they do this n that lol xx
It's a Pride, does 6 miles an hour π, evo 2 I think. It's half in the boot and half in the caravan, as it comes apart. Bit like a chinese puzzle π
So pleased that your caravan holiday went well. A tonic for you as well as a boost of confidence. Now you can plan your next breakaway with more certainty. π€x
Yes a definate tonic as my oxygen nurse, just before we went away, took blood from both my wrist arteries and wondered how I was still going! The level of the c02 in my blood was normal so I had to do the mandatory walk to the kitchen and back with the oximeter on my finger. I'm now on 4 to sit and rest, 6 to slo mo, real slow motion, walk. And 9-10 to get up the stairs, 2 at a time. But i'm still here, clinging on and finding something positive about every day.
Just got back from a great C and C site in St Neots, best thing we ever did was to buy a caravan, been away at least 20 times since we bought it, life is so easy especially we you have the best wife ever to help connect the van to the car, like you I have a scooter , ideal when the walk to the toilet and shower are just a little too far for me to walk , canβt wait until the next on.
St Neots by Huntingdon or the one in Cornwall? I daren't go too far until I get used to my new size tanks and flow. The one we've just stayed at was a c&c one, only 5 spaces and right next to the river. I take my hat of to your wife, goodness I wouldn't know where to start !π
Hi Lesley, my wife and who is also my carer is a lifesaver saver to me, with out I would not get out and about, she is a true champion and I think we should all be great full for the help and support we get if we are lucky to have that special person in our lives . Take care Al
