Hi there for those of us with Bronchiectasis and asthma, which inhalers do you use and which do you feel are the most effective?
Inhalers.: Hi there for those of us... - Lung Conditions C...
Inhalers.
I was on Fostair MDI 100/6 for years which was a very good inhaler for asthma. Im now on Fobumix easyhaler DPI 320/9 which so far has been amazing. You should speak to your doctor to help you decide what’s best for you though.
All the best
Relvar 184
Braltus 10
Salbutamol ( Blister)
Carbosistene
Azithromycin
Montelukast
Nebuliser saline and sabutamol
It worked well until I had covid
Asthma and Small Airways Disease, I started with a brown preventer, perhaps Becotide plus Ventolin rescue inhaler
Changed over the years to;
Symbicort (got a lot of sore throats),
Seretide (thinned my skin terribly),
Sirdupla (didn't work for me),
Fostair MDI (been utterly brilliant, even skin improved a lot).
Throughout I've always been prescribed Ventolin (which is now called Salamol since they removed CFCs from it to help the atmosphere/global warming).
over the last few year fostairnexthaler 100/6 has been the best inhaler for me I have tried qvar and symbicort however we all react differently so a chat with a specialist should help x
Ciclesonide and formoterol
Hi.I have bronchiectasis and asthma and use spiriva respimat, fostair 200/6 mcg and ventolin.
symbicort - used for around 20 years and very effective for me.
Hi falcon68, Yes, I have bronciactsis and asthma, I use fostair 200/6, ventolin, saline through a nebuliser, AerobiKA to shift the muck and my emergency pack is co-amoxiclave. Works for me.
Fostair 100 and 200 for 300 am and pm also Incruse once a day. Seems to work well. Changed from becloforte, spiriva and serevent . Now less puffs and less canisters!
I have asthma and Bronchiectasis. My inhalers are Relva Elipta, Spiriva Respimat and Salbutamol. Not sure if they are really working that well for me as I get quite breathless on exertion and cough a lot. Hayfever is also a big problem for me. My Respiratory Consultant says it’s hit and miss, and he doesn’t know why things work for some people and not others. I guess it’s because we are all different, but that’s little consolation when you’re struggling.
I’m on Pulmicort (brown preventer) and have Bricanyl (blue) as an inhaler. I have been on these for 25years+ without any problems, they seem to control my asthma well. I was diagnosed with Bronchiectasis in 2018 but have no extra medication for that, just making sure I drink a lot of water and exercise every day.
Fostair gave me a tremor in my hand. That’s all I can report on that one. Now on relvar. About to change to Spiriva Respimat. Am I right in saying this is a inhaler mist rather than a dry powder? In theory does that go deeper?
For clarity I do not have bronchiectasis but chronic bronchitis. Having said that I believe the inhalers work in a similar way for both diseases pathologies.
I have copd/small airways disease and bronchiectasis but no asthma now. My inhalers are Trixeo and Alvesco, both through spacers and they seem ok.
I have Asthma/COPD - I have three inhalers but I find the green 'Ipratropium bromide' the best reliever.
I was prescribed Relvar Ellipta and Ventolin when I was diagnosed with asthma. These were not changed when I was diagnosed with bronchiectasis, except when an asthma nurse tried me on Trelagy, which made things worse. (A bronchiectasis physio told me it is all wrong for bronch.) Some people need to try several inhalers before they find the best one for them.
Salbutamol, cicleside,fostair
